Insignia Casino

From what I have read, it seems like there are 3 card tables. 2 are blackjack and the 3rd somehow has the ability to change games. How does a table have the ability to change games? Do they put a different “table cloth” over it?

Are there many video poker machines in the Insignia casino?

Thanks.

There is also a roulette table. I think there might be six video poker games, maybe 25 slot machines. It has been my experience that the slot machines get tighter as the cruise gets shorter.

Can someone please explain how the casino works in terms of money? Do we use cash or do we charge the amount we would like to play with to our on board accounts? Having been on several cruises prior, we have experienced both methods. Although, I will say I am partial to the latter.

My husband says you can only use your refundable credits for casino play. You can get cash, which will be added to your on-board acct. Also, he says there is a daily limit to how much cash you can get. He can't remember the amount.

On Princess they let you use your cruise card in the casino and OBC is deducted from your account. I was quite surprised when, on Insignia, I was told that the casino only took cash or if you wanted to use your cruise card, you are charged a 3% fee! Crazy! I haven't carried cash on a ship in years.

I have never seen anything except a cash requirement with fee to charge your shipboard account for table game play on cruise ships. If you want to establish a separate line of credit to draw upon for table game play to avoid the 3% fee you can do so in advance of the cruise but I believe Oceania requires a $10,000 minimum line of credit. Also if you play higher limit tables the casino manager may waive the 3% fee on request.

Thanks for the information and guidance, everyone! It does seem strange to bring cash along on a cruise merely for gambling, but given the apparent smaller size of the Oceania casino, it makes sense here. I guess it’s time for a cash donation to the cruise line, LOL.

I just play slots....on other cruiselines you just stick your cruise card into the machine and, BINGO, money is deducted from your onboard account! Easy, peasy! Well, guess it might be too easy for some people, but I have just a pre-determined amount that I'm willing to "donate" to the cruiseline. ;p

Princess and Celebrity require you to use your cruise card for slots....no cash accepted. As a matter of fact, everything on those cruiselines is "no cash" except for gratuities to specialty restaurant staff on Princess (or maybe table games, I have no idea about those). So, on my first O cruise, I was pretty surprised when I saw the slot machine wanted cash. Pretty old school. But, I guess it will keep me from donating to Oceania. :')

Just off Celebrity Summit and definitely put cash in the slot machines. You do put your card in to build up points that you can use to play the machines but you can put cash in. Also used OBC that we had to play either slots or table games.

I didn't see a coin place....I just used my card. I never have cash with me on a ship. Thx for the reminder.

Does anyone know what the blackjack table limits are, usually?

I guess I'm out of luck in terms of hoping for a live poker cash game.

On Oceania R class ships table minimums are usually $5 or $10.

On O class ships (Marina and Riviera) a $25 table is available in the evenings and upon request.
