First Back to Back some guidance

I will be doing my first winter back to back out of Cape Liberty on the Anthem....First, the 12 night Caribbean, then the 8 night Bahamas. My 12 night is a Junior Suite and the 8 night is a Grand Suite (right next door). Lots of questions. How does changing from one category and room to another work? I will add that my husband is blind and is wheeled on and off the ship. I am his guidance on board. Everyone has always been most accommodating, but we have never done one cruise after another. All details are appreciated. I have done many cruises, but this forum seems to give so much information from so many experienced cruisers. My husband and I are 70, retired, and enjoying ourselves as much as possible. Oh yes, one other small thought, if I am going on 2 cruises, on the original embarkation am I allowed 4 bottles of wine? I do enjoy my glasses of wine on the balcony. Thank you to anyone who can guide me through their experiences.

With both cabins being next to each other chances are good you will have the same Cabin attendant. You should talk to the Cabin attendant during the first part of the B2B. S/He will make sure to have the Grand Suite ready early for you. At the end of of the first cruise you pack up all your stuff except the hanging items. The Cabin attendant will move your packed bags and the hanging stuff over to the new room.

 

You should also make sure to talk to Guest Services sometime during the first cruise to make sure you are on the consecutive cruisers list. You will then get all the information about turn around day delivered to your cabin. Most of the time you will get an assigned time to meet with an officer on turnaround day. They will then escort all consecutive cruisers off the ship, through custms and immigrations and back on. You will be the first back on again, before they start general boarding for the new guests.

Some ships will offer a lunch for consecutive cruisers in the MDR, but that´s not always done. You can access your cabin anytime, even if the halways are still closed off for the new guests.

Yes you will be allowed 4 bottles of wine.

Just let your steward know you are changing cabins. Pack up your drawers and any other loose items but leave all your clothes that are on hangers in the closet. He will move them. Let him know a couple days ahead. Also check with guest services so they have you as a B2B cruiser.

On our last B2B, they took 2 bottles and labeled them with cabin number They were delivered on the last night of first cruise. Normally they have let us take them on as I always have paper work for second cruise.

You will be given instructions where to meet with others doing B2B. Very easy.

You won't need a boarding pass for the second cruise. When you meet up with the others doing a B2B, the associate will give you a new sign and sail pass.

 

We have purchased liquor on the the last night of our 1stbleg of the B2B and they let us take it to our cabin. I'm sure they assumed we were leaving the next day. We then had the liquor to enjoy on our subsequent cruise.

Will get info in cabin during week one. Also if switching cabin don't have to repack just throw the loose items in suitcase, leave clothes on hangers. As mentioned your cabin steward will look after you.

Our booze was lost on our last one, never did get it back.

Complained at guest services got a credit back, but really wanted the stuff I bought.

Always take a photo of your bottle(s) before you hand them over.

 

It's better motivation for them not to "lose" your bottles.

When you fill out your online check-in for both cruises, you will indicate that you are consecutive cruisers.







For the first leg, there will be a drop down box for the question: how are you getting home from the cruise (I'm paraphrasing, of course). There will be choices like, plane, private car, etc. One of the choices will be "consecutive cruiser".





Likewise, for the second leg, there will be a question: how are you getting to the ship? Again, choose "consecutive cruiser".





This is a 99% guarantee that the ship will properly note you as being B2B. Of course, you should still check at Guest Services about halfway through Cruise #1, just to be sure. :)

Thanks so much for the info. It sounds easy enough. I was just a little concerned since my husband needs that wheelchair to get on and off. You have eased my mind.

 

Our last B2B had four or five folks in wheelchairs. The ship assigns someone (one was our waiter) who wheels the chair off, stays with you through the quick Immigration check, and wheels you back on. Our meeting time was 9:30 in the atrium and there were a couple of ship officers managing the process, making sure everyone had passports and letting us know how the general deboarding was going. Very efficient.
