Cwoolslayer Posted May 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Planning a trip with my family to Bermuda in September. Considering the cruise out of NYC in late Sept. Do you think it will be too cold to swim in the pools on the ship?
yankees111 Posted May 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Planning a trip with my family to Bermuda in September. Considering the cruise out of NYC in late Sept. Do you think it will be too cold to swim in the pools on the ship? Pools on cruise ships are crowded. You will not be able to swim in a cruise ship pool even if you went during the middle of the summer. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Sean6365 Posted May 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2018 It won’t be cold but like the other poster said, it will be crowded. We went last September 10-17 on the Breakaway and pools were packed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
welove2cruise2014 Posted May 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2018 We've done that cruise in October and even then there were days that were nice enough to use the pool. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app
Homosassa Posted May 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Be aware that depending on when the pool was filled, the water temperature of the pool may be too cool for some.
Mike_DeA Posted May 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Reminds me of the famous quote "nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded". You'll be able to get into the pool, but actually swimming is unlikely.
17cruisesnsl Posted May 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Last year was warmer in Sept than Aug. Hope you get warm water, calm seas and a wonderful cruise
Rare mking8288 Posted May 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Just a FYI for planning consideration - early Fall is one of our favorite time of the year to cruise out of NYC (and/or air-land vacations, etc.) ... The North Atlantic can be unpredictable and the crossings to/from Bermuda can be silky smooth one direction but rocking & rolling - still not out of peak hurricane season yet ... always plan for the remote possibility of a Nor-Easter. There are basically 3 full days at sea on a typical Sunday to Saturday run out of NYC, with Monday, Tuesday & Saturday being full sea days - jammed pack sun & pool deck, not a lounger unclaimed for by the hogs, weather permitting and half of the ship on the top decks. The pools are supposed to be heated (?? no) but if it's anything like the Breakaway, it's usually "standing room" only in the oversized bathtub with everyone around, maybe except on the deep end. They usually drained the pool late night, maintenance & inspection, cleaning & then refill it ... best odds of doing a few breaststroke is early in the morning. If, weather including wind & waves are adverse and unfavorable, the outdoors will be closed - promptly everyone to stay indoors with the sliding doors roped off & blocked. If you normally do not buy travel interruption insurance protection, there are good reasons for consider the add-on expenses, for peace-of-mind on the cruise "investment" especially if coming from outside the area. Once on the islands, beautiful (pink) sandy beaches are nice & easy to get to, water temperature in the ocean can be a little cooler to swim in but perfect to tip-toeing. We are going again this year ... later in October, plenty of cruise ships calling upon, still. BTW, OP 1st. post ... welcome to CC,

Sean6365 Posted June 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Our September cruise to Bermuda last year ended up in Halifax to avoid weather in the Atlantic. Which cruise were you on? We were on the Breakaway Sept 10-17 and had to dodge Hurricane Jose but had beautiful weather when we arrived. There were talks about going up north for our cruise.
