halberd7 Posted May 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2018 I just ran one on the Star last month on the transatlantic. Everyone who wanted to participate signed up for it on our roll call. That way, I knew an approximate number. As soon as the casino opened the first night, I spoke with the slot host, Rex, not the casino manager, who was busy. I advised him how many were in the party and which machine we would be playing. He was very helpful and even donated a bottle of merlot to give away as a prize. I don't think there's a minimum number of participants needed.
Got No Real Name Posted May 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2018 You really do not need to do anything. Just set a price and have people sing up then meet at the casino to play. Most folks run a $15 slot pull at a $1 machine. On most $1 machines max play is $3 so each person gets 5 spins. At the end any winnings are cashed out and split among the participants. Easy to do and requires no set up or advance notice. Just show up and play!
Love my butler Posted May 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Zero coordination is needed for a slot pull with the ship. All you need is to gather your group and head to the casino when it is open. Put in your money and start pulling. Having the ship staff involved usually complicates the process and they then try to give you and your group all kinds of directives. Unnecessary. P.S. There is a minimum number of players required, one.
halberd7 Posted May 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2018 The ones I have been involved in the staff gave us no directives and did not complicate the event in any way.

newmexicoNita Posted May 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Can anyone tell me how to get a slot pull set up on the Gem? Do you need a minimum? Thanks in advance!!! Leslie Leslie, no minimum: we have always set them up pretty much prior to sailing. We simply take names when people show they are interested. Sometimes I have emailed the casino ahead of time but that isn't necessary. we do visit the casino manager the sail away day and talk to him. How you set up the amount to charge is up to you. We try and get the money at the M&G.
TNCruzer56 Posted May 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We did slot pulls for years. Some years you`d come away with a few bucks, some years not. The last 6 pulls, the group never had one puller that hit for more than 8 bucks and we had 50 peeps on 2 machines on our very last slot pull! The machines are not regulated like on land and I believe that the cruz lines are rigging them to pay-off less and less. We`ve not even dropped a quarter in a slot in the last 7 trips-Shame...at one time it was fun thinking you might win 100 bucks, but not now! NJGeorge Posted May 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Thanks for all the info, appreciate it!!! Leslie One more bit of info. If you win more then $1299.00 they will need the tax id # of someone in the group. The winnings will have to be declared on some ones tax return as income. In spite of the tight machines mentioned on this thread our group hit for more then $1700.00. We all chipped in to cover the tax and gave it to the person who organized the pull. all involved came out with an even $100.00 after taxes. zqvol Posted May 15, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Can anyone tell me how to get a slot pull set up on the Gem? Do you need a minimum? Thanks in advance!!! Leslie Contact the casino manager after you board. They will handle all of the details. They usually do them in conjunction with your M&G, but will set them up almost any time that you want. Jan_In_Maine Posted May 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 15, 2018 I've done quite a few slot pulls on various cruises ... I usually talk with the casino manager to see what they would like to give us for "gifts" .. we usually end up with one bottle of red, one of white wine and a bottle of champaign ... We have always had a blast! Jan

They usually do them in conjunction with your M&G, but will set them up almost any time that you want. There are no 'details' to handle. It's simply being in the casino when it is open with your group and playing the game. The only thing a casino manager might handle is giving the group a bottle or two of that two buck chuck they have on board.

kernie968 Posted May 15, 2018 #15 Share Posted May 15, 2018 If you google slot pull cruise you will get a site that has a slot pull sheet that is great for running a slot pull. I used it and loved it. Do not think I can mention the name of the site here.
ultramax12 Posted May 15, 2018 #16 Share Posted May 15, 2018 We are on the 5/27 Escape, in the Roll-Call thread there is a person keeping a spreadsheet, (4) events planned. 1.) Meet & Greet, 2.) Slot Pull, 3.) Pub Crawl, 4.) Cabin Crawl He asks for a headcount for each event, then during the M&G you sign up for the Slot Pull which will be on a different day, we are doing $20.00 each. AngAndBoys Posted May 15, 2018 #17 Share Posted May 15, 2018 I've done them a couple times. Best advice...bring lots of change so you can hand out winnings quickly when it's over and not have to deal with trying to get the right bills for change at the cage. Zippeedee Posted May 16, 2018 #18 Share Posted May 16, 2018 On the Breakaway TA the person who organized the slot pull was assigned a machine for us to use when she met with the casino manager. We all got $15 back from a $20 investment. The slots were really "loose" for all but the last two nights. I was playing penny machines and netted over $200 on less than $100 of my own money. Not bad! This is one reason to talk to the casino manager. Then, the cashiers can be told to give you change (small bills) after you cash out at the end of the slot pull. I’m not sure I would want to bring enough of my own money to hand out winnings, since winnings are completely unpredictable. Then, the cashiers can be told to give you change (small bills) after you cash out at the end of the slot pull. So the cashiers won't give the 'valued' customer small bills if requested? It takes the order of a casino manager to accomplish this? Ridiculous.
