Carnival Spirit Questions

Recommended Posts

So I pack a sombrero, an Hawaiian shirt, some glow bands and one glove along with tuxedo pants and I have every night catered for in one outfit.:D

But what will you dress up in theme nights? :p

More Questions:

Power sockets - I know the power outlets are AU, but can anyone confirm where they are in the stateroom? Is there a shave outlet in the bathroom? Is there any difference in Oceanview Suite?

Cheers

There is a shaver outlet in the bathroom, but it’s not an AU socket and a low voltage one, 110 maybe.

Just got off her last week in Singapore and had a wonderful 19 day on board. I have never seen calmer seas, not even Glacier bay, Alaska could match it. And this folks was the worst part of the cruise! There was no gentle rocking as I went to sleep, no feeling for days after getting off like I was still sailing!

Oh that's disappointing, they were off last time I was on the Spirit too!

The 6 June cruise seems to have both Ridge Asia and Music Manila playing. I suspect Ridge Asia will be playing while Music Manila are taking a break, but I don’t think I have seen that confirmed anywhere.

Ridge Asia are about 25 years younger than Music Manila. They play quite a few standards, but also a ‘younger’ play list.

Cheers, that would suit me just as well.:D

Hi folks, as promised... We are on Spirit's return trip to Sydney. The departure out of Singapore was a lot less frantic than last dry dock. Taking your passports off you as you came aboard was still the major holdup, but not as bad this time. We left a couple of hours late due to the extra time needed to take dry dock equipment off and get our food and drink aboard. She's all nice and newly painted...on the outside. The changes.... The Chapel and library are gone...in their place, a new and larger duty free shop. There's also a new arcade games room and a new craft room. The casino has supposedly been done up...but I can't see it. Nothing else appears to have changed , but I can only assume there has been some engineering and behind the scenes changes. Basically, they've added some stuff to bring in more income....and not much for passenger comfort. For some reason the main foyer/bar/ customer service/ shore excursion area appears to be particularly dark and dreary. Maybe it's my poor memory or maybe they're cutting back on lighting. The tv computer system has gone belly up do you can't book shore excursions or check your account....can't be fixed till back in Sydney supposedly.....long lines at the guest relations and shore excursion desk. As you could imagine, it was bloody hot in Singapore and enroute to Phuket.....but all the pools closed. Water still green after dry dock. You'd think they would start getting them up to speed a few days before. Anyway they finally opened them yesterday afternoon.....probably a lot of angry mums and dads ! Everything else is pretty much the same...Desi in the finning room and chaos in the buffet ( a bit of money spent improving the flow there wouldn't have hurt). Anyway, anchored in Phuket and life is good.

Thanks for the report, shame about not getting things up to speed for the first day but these things happen often with the first cruises after Dry dock. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some OBC or Future cruise credit given as compensation.

Yes, the beds are still included ....can't see any changes in our cabin at least. One thing that did get up my nose...in the guest laundry, the soap dispenser only works spasmodically, just as it did two years ago. Had to wash without soap. I know it's a little thing but sometimes little things can be the most frustrating. For example, we won't sail Celebrity Soltice again because our cabin card would only unlock our door sometimes . Guest relations didn't think it a problem...just come down to the desk and we'll come up and open your door for you !!!!!!

Thanks again vozzie - hope you are enjoying your cruise!

We usually bring a small bottle with liquid laundry detergent even on ships without a laundry.

Can anyone provide advice on the balcony dividers? Can you have them opened up? Are there any tricks fo know?

Our stateroom is in the middle of 2 others in our group. Can we open up both sides?

Cheers

The new craft room "Soul Play" appears to be going gang busters. Every time I walk past its standing room only. Another thing of note for those a bit nervous of many sea days....the Spirit was jumping yesterday (Sunday), on our second of three sea days on the way to Bali. Bands playing in every spare room, trivia full houses, lectures, sport on the big screens...and to top it off...the crossing of the equator ceremony. In fact, it was difficult to get away from the action.

Does anyone know if there is a service fee (%) for settling onboard accounts with a Visa/Mastercard?

The website FAQs state "a service fee may apply...."

TIA!

Yes, there will be a service fee for using a credit card, unfortunately. I can't remember exactly what Carnival charges but on our last Princess cruise it was 1.1%.

Sounds like it is going really well. I take it they have ironed out all the wrinkles.
