NovCruisin Posted June 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2018 We are leaving to take a Norway cruise on Koningsdam next month and I wanted to check a few questions about the casino please: (1) I know the casino is closed while in port but do they open during passage in the fjords? I think in our home port of Galveston, TX we have to be so many miles off the coast in order to have the casino open...so I fear if that was the case in Norway the casino would never be open since we hug land for most of the cruise!! (2) What's the best way to bring on gambling money? In the past we just bring a wad of cash, when we drive to the port or fly domestic, but since we are flying international with a 1 night stay in Amsterdam before the cruise we don't feel comfortable walking around that much with large sums of cash. Can we put money into an OBC account and then withdraw the cash in the casino without a fee? Thanks for everyone's help on this!
Rare Lady Arwen Posted June 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) You can open a casino account with your shipboard card and have money charged to your ship account, which you will probably have secured with a credit card. We usually "deposit" a couple hundred dollars to our casino account and then add to it if necessary, or if we win and there is money in the account, we just let it ride until the last evening when you must cash it out at the casino cashier. I don't think there is any charge to do that. However, there is a charge if you go to the cashier and ask for cash in your hand and have it charged to your shipboard account. Honestly, I've never done this, so not sure of how much the fee is. If you have OBC, then just "withdraw" this amount and transfer it into your casino account. This can all be done at the slot machine....no need to go to the cashier. Edited June 7, 2018 by Lady Arwen spelling

Why take a Norway Fjords cruise if you are planning to spend all of your fjord (viewing) time in the casino????
Rare Lady Arwen Posted June 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Why take a Norway Fjords cruise if you are planning to spend all of your fjord (viewing) time in the casino????I think the OP is entitled to spend their cruise doing what makes them happy and doing what they enjoy. I doubt if the OP is going to spend "all of your fjord (viewing) time in the casino". Regardless, it's none of our business.

doublebzz Posted June 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2018 If you bring a "wad of cash", you might consider applying for a line of credit ("marker") with Player's Club. There is a $2,500 minimum but no pressure to gamble that amount. If you win, you can pay off the markers or, alternatively, it will be automatically charged to your associated bank account. NovCruisin Posted June 13, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Lady Arwen - Thanks for the quickresponse! How would I open a casino accountwith my shipboard card? Tennessee Titan / Lady Arwen / catl331 - As said on my behalf by Ladyand cat, I don't plan on spending "all my time" in the casino...otherwiseI'd just go to Vegas ;p Either way, your comment doesn't add any value to this thread, so next time please stick to just answering questions as opposed to judging or move along. doublebzz - How does one apply for a "line of credit" withthe Player's Club? Do I do that once on board or is there a phone number I cancall ahead of time?

Do I do that once on board or is there a phone number I cancall ahead of time? Apparently, the application process has gotten a little more complicated since I last applied the past April. Rare Oceansaway17 Posted June 20, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Why take a Norway Fjords cruise if you are planning to spend all of your fjord (viewing) time in the casino???? EXACTLY that was my thoughts. I clicked on hoping for an interesting question since I am going to Norway in August (on another line). I saw the casino and I have to say Norway is beautiful so skip the casino except late a night. Any questions you can ask on board.
