Has anyone done the Hop On Hop Off Bus in Florence?

If yes, is it a good way to see Florence?

Joan

We used the HOHO in Florence about 8 years ago because we also wanted to get up into the Tuscan hills. We were spending 5 days in Florence at the time and I must say that it was a huge time waster in the city itself. Too much time wasted waiting for the bus to arrive - we finally ended up walking. The historic center of Florence is very walkable and much is pedestrian only.

We have not utilized the HOHO on our more recent trips to Florence.

Florence is actually a quite small city, so easy to do on foot unless you have mobility issues. It is a place I often tell friends that it is fun to get lost in. Once lost you can always find your way ultimately back to the Duomo and your no longer lost.

We think a HoHo in Florence is a horrific waste of money and time. The main tourist area is walkable, and even if you would take a HoHo you would have to get off the bus to enjoy any of this central area. The one place out of the way that is visited by many is the Academia (we can walk to it in about 30 min). But if you want to go to the Academia then you can simply grab a taxi. This is still a far less expensive option then paying for a HoHo.
