gotolv Posted July 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Cruising from Fort Lauderdale in February. I have some Hyatt points I need to use. I've narrowed the choices down to three hotels. Hyatt House at 90 SW 18th Ave, Hyatt Place 91at SW 18th Ave and Hyatt Place on 17th Ave. For anyone familiar with these hotels, which would you choose? Thank you. jiffpomIAm Posted July 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Hyatt Place on 17th is a really nice, comfortable quiet hotel. Its more aimed towards business, but it was by far the best we stayed in in the area. They have a nice out door pool, near shopping and restaurants, the service just cant be beat. And they have 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7 (I believe).
jiffpomIAm Posted July 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Oh and the rooms are HUGE. We booked 2 rooms for early arrival. They got us in one room at 10am. It was so big we didn't need the other and they happily canceled the other one for us. I haven't stayed at the others.
fishywood Posted July 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Assuming your third choice is the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderale 17th Street Convention Center (legal address: 1851 SE 10 Ave) that is one of the most commonly recommended hotels on this board. Though the location of the other two is very convenient to more popularly-priced restaurants and shops, and would include a free airport shuttle--the 17th Street property has shuttles to both airport and cruiseport, but not free. So if the number of points is substantially less it may be worth being a little further away from the port. (But note that that area is a mess of construction at the moment--maybe it will be finished in seven months, maybe not...)
nhraformula00 Posted July 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2018 17th street convention center airport to hotel is only a $2 per ride charge, not p.p. It is about 10 min from the airport.

CHEZMARYLOU Posted July 16, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2018 Thanks, that's more information than I found. We switched from Embassy Suites to the Hyatt. Like it that they have a shuttle from the airport and the port shuttle is cheaper than ES.
fishywood Posted July 16, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 16, 2018 [T]he port shuttle is cheaper than ES. A taxi will cost no more than $14 with tip and take you directly to your ship rather than potentially stopping at other ships en route. And will be a lot faster just taking your luggage out of the trunk to hand to the porters than from the pile of multiple passengers luggage in the little trailer towed by the shuttle. nuthut Posted July 21, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 21, 2018 Of the 3 Hyatts listed above one is best? We stayed at the 17th street location (wonderful) last year as we had no car. This Feb we will have a car and it is 8000 points for a free night at all three locations. Which would you chose and why? We will park at the port. Surprised that all three are the same points given the 17 st property is right next to two major destinations (convention center and port). Must be because it is peak season. A Hyatt House is theoretically a step up from Hyatt Place. For the same points you get a cooked to order breakfast rather than a selection of pre-made breakfast sandwiches. And a manager's reception Monday thru Thursday. Per the website all rooms have microwave, fridge and computer desk. But I would still think the location rates fewer points, especially as the area is currently completely torn up by road construction that may or may not be finished by February. Normally the area is arguably a bit quieter even though adjacent to I-95. So your call as to familiar more convenient location vs. more amenities and arguably nicer newer property.
