NHNEV2003 Posted July 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2018 I recently ordered two Carnival gift cards ($100 Each-To Be Mailed) on July 8th. As of today, July 21st, I have not received them. I've called twice--have been told that they were mailed July 9th--and cannot do anything for 10 full business days. They told me if I don't receive them in the mail by Monday afternoon, July 23rd, I can start the claims process. I'm a little concerned since my credit card was charged on the 8th--the product is not here. This is the first time that I've had a problem not receiving them by mail-we'll see how easy the claims/ replacement process is next week. I'll stick to ecards in the future. :)
trirae Posted July 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2018 I think that's a good plan. I've purchased about $1500 of them in the past several months. $500 were actual cards, and I did have one card that was not usable. I was very happy with customer service, and they claim to have re-send it about the same date as yours, but I am also still waiting. I much preferred my ecard experience. I hope yours arrive soon. NHNEV2003 Posted July 21, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted July 21, 2018 I'm definitely not at the point of contacting my credit card company. The representatives that I talked to on the phone from AARP Rewards For Good were very nice and explained their process very well. It was just unusual because I've had them mailed before and every time they arrived in less than a week.
dani85bri06 Posted July 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I don’t buy them unless o can get the e-gift cards. This exact problem worries me!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
lennythenose Posted July 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I’ve had a couple that never did show up and they sent replacement cards very quickly when I called after the waiting period. I was pleased with their customer service.
blarko Posted July 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I stopped buying the physical gift cards after I had a similar experience. The cards did finally show up, but took around two full weeks. After that, I will only buy the ecards.
NHNEV2003 Posted July 24, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Update as of today, July 24th--still not received. The info is now in their "research/ claims" process. These gift cards are a great deal--I will stick to the ecards in the future.
ULCajunCruiser Posted July 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2018 (edited) Sorry to hear of your issues. I'm new to the AARP gift card deal, but have been using them for my upcoming cruise. Have earned enough points to buy what I need. Went to AARP.org last weekend and cards were available, but there was no option to have them delivered instantly by email. So deleted cards out of my cart. Went back yesterday and the email option was there, so I bought $1000 worth, and applied them to my payment due in less than 5 minutes!! Went really well, cannot believe it is so easy to save 10%!!! Hope your cards show up soon, know how frustrating it must be for you!! CruzCrazy Posted July 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2018 I had this happen back when Verizon rewards was selling them. I knew they could take 10 days or so (at the outside) to arrive, and it was about 20 days before we were leaving for a cruise, so I thought it was safe and ordered a $500 gift card (e-cards were not an option back then). The UPS envelope arrived empty. What a mess. I called, and they had to trace it, take that card out of the system, and re-issue. I didn't have time. I didn't need that gift card to arrive at my home while I was on a ship. I wanted to cancel the order. Talk about a headache. I can't even remember how many phone calls I had to make before it finally came off my credit card. Needless to say, I never ordered through Verizon again. I did order a few from AARP after that, but now I stick with the e-cards.
Fatcat604 Posted July 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Last night I bought $300 for $270, I was in a hurry didn't look at the website, in the end when I saw, it was too late. They charge me $270 plus shipping $25 total $320. I bought E gift card , no shipping fee, and somethings wrong, their system couldn't do the math, I called this morning, talked to a very nice lady, she help me get my refund $50, and promised to get it investigate since I still need to buy more. trirae Posted July 25, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 25, 2018 My replacement came a couple of days ago. I'd still prefer to use the ecards for convenience and no shipping fee/time, but I was very pleased with the customer service. I hope the OP gets the card situation straightened out soon. NHNEV2003 Posted July 25, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted July 25, 2018 Last update for this thread. The answer is that the cards were returned as "undeliverable." They don't know why. My address has not changed--the USPS delivers mail to e 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. AARP confirmed the address on the order that it is my mailing address. The whole situation is strange--who knows, maybe the envelop was damaged? Anyway, I cancelled the order and will be looking for a credit on my credit card. I'll re-order ecards after I receive my credit. One thing that I'd like to emphasize is the great customer service from AARP/ Rewards For Good. Each person that I talked to during this process has been excellent--they were very apologetic and all were sorry that they couldn't do more to rectify the situation. bury me at sea Posted July 26, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 26, 2018 Thanks for posting the end of the story. I haven't had a problem with the ecards or the physical cards from AARP but it's comforting to know how friendly and efficient and effective Customer Service is. Happy sailing. JandPB Posted July 26, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 26, 2018 Quirky things happen for no reason. We ordered two cards Sunday and they arrived today via USPS. Last time we ordered they took 3 weeks. No rhyme or reason why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SNJCruisers Posted July 27, 2018 #19 Share Posted July 27, 2018 When it comes to the physical cards, anything less than 500 will come via USPS and anything 500+ will come visit UPS and require a signature. If you're not home at the time of initial delivery by UPS, they may leave a notice and make a second attempt or you may have to go to your local UPS store to pick the envelope up. That's what happened to me in the past and luckily the store is less than a mile from my house. Between Allstate, AARP and Verizon, I have gotten 5000 worth of cards and have saved 500.00 in the process. I also got another 200 in cards for free by getting the Carnival credit card. I used the card once for about a 45 dollar charge, paid it off and never used it again. Have done the same thing with cards from NCL, Royal and Celebrity but only got 100 each time from them. Remember to use the cards to save 10% on Cheers, grats, specialties and anything else you charge on your sail n sign card.

Giantfan13 Posted July 30, 2018 #21 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Can some one answer a question for me on these 'gift cards' as we have never used them before. WE have a cruise booked on the Pride in October. We have paid off, even final payment, as we had a Carnival credit for a future cruise that we had to use up. And we booked this with an online travel site. So, my question is if we buy, say $500 in gift cards, can we apply them to our account to cover expenses on the ship like excursions, tips, casino, etc.? If so, do we do this thru Carnival or do we have to go thru our online TA? Thanks for any advice? Cheers Len

I can't answer regarding a travel agent, or online travel site, since I don't use one. I have had the cards applied to my account at the Guest Services desk, and I've applied them myself to my account via the kiosks available. Both work fine--you just have to time your visits to avoid the lines. Both work equally fine. The ecards (printed piece of paper) work as well as the physical cards--both have a card # and a pin#--need both to apply the credit.

Apply the gift cards to your s&s account on board, at guest services or a kiosk (sometimes kiosks don't like gift cards though) 2. Use gift cards to purchase cruise cash from your home. If you do not use all the funds, in order to get a cash refund, you would need to use the casino trick. If you do not use the funds, and do not use the casino trick, option 1 above will result in them giving you a gift card for the balance, mailed to your home in a few weeks. Option 2 above would result in losing the balance (no refund) Sent from my SM-G930P using Forums mobile app
