jeph Posted July 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Just curious as to whether there would be any point in bringing some favorite music or films along. On a related note, are movies on DVD loaned out from the onboard library or front desk? (And btw, in case that's a perk reserved for passengers who book suites, let me make clear that I ain't never been in one, other than a social visit to somebody else's-- it's standard oceanview cabins for me. ;))
satxdiver Posted July 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2018 No CD or DVD players in any of the rooms except full suites. If you bring a CD or DVD also bring the player.
Pam in CA Posted July 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Depending on the ship, you may have on-demand movies you can watch. There’s usually a good selection.
Nebr.cruiser Posted July 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2018 The Emerald did not have on demand movies last January. This is an upgrade I wish they would add to all ships.
cflutist Posted July 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2018 A CD/DVD player is available if you travel in a full suite. There is a request form to fill out to get 2 at a time. Your room steward will bring them.

Since the Emerald hasn't been retrofitted with the new interactive TV system yet, the good news is that you can use their TV's to feed video's & music via a usb cable. jeph Posted July 23, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted July 23, 2018 First off, thanks for all the very prompt replies! Don't know when the next drydock is scheduled-- anybody know if the ship might get that interactive system in the next six months? Cruise is toward the end of January. floridalover5623 Posted July 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 23, 2018 usb or hdmi? I think usb 1/2 is too slow to stream video. You are correct I should have said HDMI. Although I do feed my Roku & WD TV devices via usb & it only takes a few seconds to transfer the video files & begin playing.
