Nanascraps Posted July 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Our last cruise on Princess was in 2010. Due to a brain tumor I had and subsequently removed in 2015 we haven't been on a cruise until February of this year and we had limited funds but wanted to do something for our 25th wedding anniversary so we went on Carnival. We learned you get what you pay for. Anyway I digress! My husband smokes and we need to know where the smoking areas are on the Crown. We read somewhere that there is one on the Lido where our cabin is so I'm hoping it's close by. Can someone tell us where they all are? Sorry for the rambling post!:):)
Skai Posted July 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2018 INSIDE Smoking is allowed in the designated area of the casino and inside of Churchill's (cigar)Lounge - adjacent to the casino. OUTSIDE(on deck) Smoking is allowed in a designated seating area (Port Side) of the Tradewinds Bar(Deck 12) -- this is the largest area allocated for smokers. There are a handful of separate tables and chairs available. There are also two other smaller locations that have a couple of chairs and/or bench&table. One is located aft on the Promenade(Deck 7)(Starboard side - if my memory serves correct), and the other is on Deck 14(Starboard side) @ a narrow deck outside of the exterior door adjacent to the Teen Center and forward of the hot tub. skynight Posted July 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Outside In addition to the area by the trade winds bar, port side there are a few other areas: Seating area deck 16 aft outside of Sabatini's, above the Horizon Terrace. There may also be some tables on the Horizon Terrace on the port side of deck 15. The other area is a small standing area on the starboard side of the promenade deck outside of the Club Fusion where the promenade narrows to go around the stern of the ship. Smoking is no longer permitted in cabins or on cabin balconies.
flamomo Posted July 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2018 The Tradewinds bar is on Deck 16, forward ….not on deck 12!
happy cruzer Posted July 31, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Would like some confirmation about the current outside areas for smoking? Anyone have recent patters to see what is listed? Are there two aft areas, one on 16 and one on 15? Remember one on 15 but not 16. Thanks.
happy cruzer Posted July 31, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2018 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2598295&page=7 Found an excellent review that has patters that show the details on the smoking area. Did not see the Lido deck mentioned.
Skai Posted August 1, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 1, 2018 The Tradewinds bar is on Deck 16, forward ….not on deck 12! Correct. Had a brainfart:confused:. Meant Deck 16 and 17, not 12 and 14 in my above post. In past years, smoking (on the Grand/Gem Class ships) was allowed closer to the Terrace (Adult) pool, along the port side wall...before that, at the row of bar stools a 1/2 deck above where the Outrigger Bar is located. In more recent years, the smoking area was moved one full deck above(16) -- Outside of the doors where Sabatini's(or Share) and Adagio Bar are located. When last on the Crown(specific), the smoking area at the nearest the stern of the vessel has been pushed up an additional deck on 17 -- Outside of the Youth/Teen Center area -- Which seems like an odd locale IYAM. The area is easily reached by the rear elevators, or by trucking up 2 1/2 flights of stairs when lounging by the Terrace (Adult) Pool.
