feelingnauti Posted August 8, 2018 #51 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Had our first aft cabin on our cruise to Alaska. Awesome views! Just enjoyed the ABC islands on Navigator in the aft corner porthole cabin 7388. Going on the Grandeur to Bermuda in corner wrap junior suite 7350. Taking my girlfriend on her first cruise in an extended aft balcony on Carnival. I book them when I can get them. Love the sounds and the view. So relaxing. boscobeans Posted August 8, 2018 #52 Share Posted August 8, 2018 That's true! Ship and which aft cabin can make a big difference. I'm not a huge fan...it's usually a very long walk...and I go back and forth to the cabin frequently...it becomes a pain! (Not far enough to make a calorie difference...but far enough to make you wish you were nearer to the stairs!) Ha a Ha. LOL. After a long day in port and then a somewhat late night in the casino, my wife and I feel the walk from the mid ship's elevator to the aft veranda is like crossing the Sahara. bosco
Terry in NJ Posted August 9, 2018 #53 Share Posted August 9, 2018 Sprung for an aft on Celebrity Solstice cruising Alaska in 2015. Yes the walk was long but the 180 degree view of the scenery was amazing. Sailing Norway fjords in May 2019 on the Serenade, and grabbed an aft again. The walk wouldn't matter even if it was a larger ship, because this is a bucket list cruise and it's all about the view, incredible view!
MichaelCMTX Posted August 9, 2018 #54 Share Posted August 9, 2018 CLS isnt aft unless you think backside of VCL is aft. AquaTheater suites are the only aft cabins. Not much of a soot issue on Oasis. I have seen Carnival funnels pointed right into CLS in port. [emoji33] Rear facing CLS get noise from basketball court Thanks. Big help. I see what you mean after a little review of the deck plans. "Aft" is pretty relative based on the size of Deck 17, I suppose. Sure isn't the hike we had to that corner Sky Suite on Equinox.
Ringleto Posted August 9, 2018 #55 Share Posted August 9, 2018 I always hear that Aft Staterooms are noisy and you don't get the best view. Is this true? Your opinion counts! I want to see the stars..... I want to enjoy a spacious balcony...... I have Champagne tTste and a Budweiser Pocket! Ha, ha...... Is it fun? Is it worth it? Had an aft cabin on Norwegian. Didn't care for it. We felt like there was an odd smell like gas or oil and there was constant garbage that floated down from the upper deck dining area. JTBCruiser Posted August 9, 2018 #62 Share Posted August 9, 2018 The aft is always our first choice to book. We've been successful 1/2 the time and loved every one of them.
Lazirus65 Posted August 9, 2018 #63 Share Posted August 9, 2018 I will always try and book an Aft, all of my current booked cruises are in Aft cabins I have to agree with a previous poster that when doing the Panama Canal Aft is definitely the way to go, when I did it back in 2014 on Legend of the Seas the views and experience was just an amazing experience. vickiw0318 Posted August 9, 2018 #70 Share Posted August 9, 2018 Personally, I have found the best views of the stars from an aft balcony to be on the Radiance class ships. The back is not as "lit up" as some of the others. Good views as well on the Vision class ships. I have a very nice habit of, after a day at sea, going out on my aft balcony to say good night to the stars. Corny, but a lovely way to end a day. P.S. I too have had fun leaving a gift for those who have "my" cabin on the next cruise. My room steward was more than happy to help. It was for a CC friend who accused me from traveling with an armadillo since I am from Texas. Found a cute Texas branded shot glass to leave for him since I took the armadillo home with me. :)

Thinking Freedom Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk I thought one of the worst aft suite cabins I ever saw was the #6414 Presidential suite on Freedom. The balcony has that huge network of metal framing all around and up above, and that big flat floor area (looks like a skating rink without the ice) directly off the balcony is not something I would like to see each day.
