skynyrd Posted August 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2018 Going on the Escape in a couple of days and someone wants me to purchase Scotch for them. Does anyone have a listing of what's available on board? Thanks in advance.

zqvol Posted August 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2018 They typically have what they can get. I would get some prices from home to make sure that you are actually getting a deal. often the deal is not worth the effort.

deliver42 Posted August 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2018 When I was on the Escape in December, they had a special on JW Black. Two for $24.99, which I thought was pretty good. They have a pretty large selection of scotches. I'm sure you can find something he likes.
don't-use-real-name Posted August 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2018 Remember whatever you select pack it well for transit. If going by air - you can't take in your carry on bag. Suggest that you wrap each bottle in a thick towel and put it inside a sealable plastic bag and in the center of your checked luggage - do not put two glass bottles together at any time. As previously posted get the best prices from your own local liquor dealer and compare with the prices of what is on board and then the effort and cost to transport the booze back home (Is it really worth it?). While there is no Liquor forum here at CC look about the forum for pictures of activities at bars and zoom in to see or recognize the labels. You should recognize the JW Black Label on the 2nd shelf and perhaps the Blue Label on the very top shelf - consider the Red Label as being bar stock stuck in the well below the counter. If BirdTravels is reviewing this I think that there are photos of the liquor lists that have been posted in the past. Some Duty Free shops off cruise ship may have a better and less expensive selection - returning to the ship plan on having your shopping confiscated until the night before the end of the voyage when you can claim it. The same process happens at the on board Duty Free shops the booze paid for is available to pick up on that last day. Check out the Customs rules on how much you can bring back free of customs fees - from what I have been reading lately it is pretty relaxed (as long as you are honest in the declaration) And CHEERS "clink" celebrate your liquid treasure ! luvcruzing Posted August 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2018 If you purchase the liquor on the last day of the cruise, you can take it directly to your cabin.
casofilia Posted August 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Also get Duty Free Prices in your airports at home and at the Embarkation Port if flying internationally for comparison. At the customs remember it is for YOUR consumption or a gift!!!
Stick93 Posted August 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2018 Nothing great that you cannot get on land - there is one bottle I never saw before Macallan quest (or something like that). Sent from my iPhone using Forums
NotLikeBelleRosen,IHope Posted August 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2018 On the Jewel they had buy 1 get 50% off the second bottle. While the initial price was modestly less than what I'd pay at home, the 1/2 price second bottle made it a really great deal. We padded the box the ship had packed the two bottles in with assorted socks and t-shirts and packed the whole box into a locked suitcase surrounded by clothes. Checked bag made it home intact.
