Latitudes question

We are platinum members booked on 3 future cruise wi NCL. While checking on the cruises on the Dawn for 10/26 I noticed that they included an incentive of 2 points per night, when I called I was told that I would have to rebook at a higher level than the mid ship balcony we have to get the extra points. This just doesn't seem fair not to reward the extra points, not that the extra bottle of water that platinum plus gets is really an incentive. Any thoughts

Looking at the reservation page it shows that it's a "past guest offer". Looks to me like it is available at all level's. Did you book before that offer was up? If so what they may be saying is that you have to cancel the existing reservation and rebook to get that offer, but given the accuracy of most call center's who knows.

I didn't even know it changed till recently. I was only a few points away not I'm really far away till the next level. I'm only bronze till I still get to get on the ship early at this level. Do they still have lines for lattitudes members? We are sailing out of Miami in October.

Thanks,

Janice

cruises on the Dawn for 10/26

There is an Latitudes Insider Offer for the cruise 10/19-10/26 Quebec City to Boston but after the 26th there

are no offers that I can see.

The departure on 10/26 is from Boston to Bermuda - no extra incentives on that one

The ESCAPE sailing out of New York in that time frame has the Insider (past guest) double points

RD29P5 is correct the Insider (past guest) offers are for all cabins on the ship - there might be some

confusion with being in a Suite and getting double points ???

janpa70 regarding you question about lines - the bronze silver and gold members have a general que

The platinum and plat + may have a separate check-in as well as CAS (Casinos at Sea) look for the

signs or direction from a NCL greeter.

Since you are past final payment, only an upgrade would net you the results you seek.

With the upgrade, you would get whichever of the current perks that are available for that cruise and "that" category level.

Excuse me, but the 10/26 Dawn out of Boston is a 14 night Caribbean, and there is indeed a past guest offer. You should recheck your data.

The offer is considered a perk. You are entitled to the perks that were available when you booked. If the perks change and you want the new perks, you have to rebook your cruise. If you are in penalty phase the only way to rebook without penalty is to upgrade to a higher category cabin.

OP was given correct information.

As the OP it was my feeling that the extra points is not really a perk since it really has no monetary value. While I have been a loyal NCL customer (16 past cruises) I just figured that they would be loyal to all past cruisers and award them to all on the same cruise. Like I have posted being able to get to platinum plus from platinum is really not really a concern, rather they eliminate the cheap bottle of champagne and bring back mints on the pillow, or extra bottle of water on a 14 day cruise

I agree with you the cheap champagne. My understanding is that you can get the CruiseNext office to swap out that bottle for an extra bottle of water. In my case, I take the champagne to dinner for others to dispose of it.

The past guest offer or latitudes offer is definitely a perk. There is monetary value, they give $100 onboard credit as well as double points.

Already have OBC, UBP, dinning, WiFi, plus double strawberry, 1 for platinum, 1 for booking in Feb , two pirating dinners and extra bottle of wine, so extra points have no monetary value, the discussion was, is NCL showing loyalty to loyal customers by not giving double points to all past loyal customers

They are showing loyalty to all past passengers that book during the double point promo. They would have to be crazy to give double points to everyone on your sailing that has ever cruised on NCL simply because they are offering the promo to finish filling the ship. That is why they are called Monthly Latitude Offers....not Free for All's.

Except that it is not a monthly latitudes offer, and is being offered to anyone who books now in any cabin. I'm sure that MSC is not crazy offering to match latitudes level, might cancel my 15k worth of booked to them

Please post a copy of this offer offering extra latitude points that is not a Latitude Insider Offer.

I believe you are missing the point......and you said it yourself above - if you booked now you would get the points, but you don't get the extra bennies for booking in February and the bennies for booking now too. They would be crazy to offer that, as I said.

OP, if I read you right, I was in a similar situation with my Jade cruise last year. When we booked (really early, it was the only British Isles cruise offered) there was no perk for double points offered. When prices dropped after final payment, we got an upgrade, no double points. Then NCL did offer them, but we were told we weren't eligible for the points. Since we were getting really close to Gold. I asked on the ship. Same story. But when we got home, I checked my account, and the double points were there! I'm not sure why that happened, but it was a nice surprise.

Moral of he story: you get the perks offered when you book. You get the perks offered at the time you cancel and rebook. But it never hurts to ask about Latitudes points on the ship.

As you suggested I went to NCL and found out it is 100% the Latitude Insider Offer. https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program/insider-offer

Click on Caribbean then go to the page with 21-30 on it and you will see your cruise offering the "Past Guest Offer" which is the Latitude Insider Offer. Sorry you are not willing to do your own research and think you should get everything from when you book and everything that may be offered after that. That is not the way it works.

Did I read correctly in the thread that there is a Platinum benefit of obc? Or was that a booking benefit? We ended up with an extra $25 obc on our last cruise that I didn't know where it came from...

The offer is for any Latitude member at booking IF the cruise you are booking is "Latitude Insider Offer" aka "Past Guest Offer." But that is usually $100 per cabin no matter what category you book. $25 OBC sounds more like the OBC they offer periodically. Currently it is called "Endless Summer Spectacular - Up To $500 Free Onboard Spend" You can see the terms and conditions at the link below. Just scroll down to "Endless Summer Spectacular" at the bottom of the page. If you booked an inside during one of these promotions that is why you got $25 OBC. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-deals/choice

I've never understood threads like this. The idea that any company would enter into "heads you win tails I lose" contracts is simply ridiculous. When you put your deposit down you are entering into a contract (with the then agreed to terms and conditions), and it isn't one that is open to unilateral modification. I mean, imagine if NCL changed the perks/features as the cruise approached because the cruise was close to sold out and they did not need to offer as many booking incentives. How would you react if they said, we are no longer offering an OBC so we've modified the terms of your contract and removed the OBC? Why should NCL react any differently?

The only time these things make any sense to me is when you are outside final payment because the terms of the contract you entered into give you the right to unilaterally terminate the contract ... in that case, sure, call NCL and see what you can work out. But after final payment, you are locked in contractually and financially.

Actually as the OP the extra points are meaning less to me. I am not hung up on any status program, since I am already a platinum latitudes member the extra bottle of water or dinner with an officer (rather spend time with the crew) doesn't have an appeal to me. I go on cruises to enjoy the ride and take pleasure meeting the crew members and conversing with them about their home and families.

Then why is it even a question? You are not concerned about the point's, but that is the very nature of the thread. You are asking why you are not getting double point's since it is now being offered. What am I missing?
