How does this 'Up to 4 category' promo work?

I'm looking at the March 6, Riviera cruise that's listed as one of Oceania's Labor Day promos. I prefer to cruise in a balcony. What category would I need to book in order to get the balcony?

Also, would the Riviera be a better choice over their smaller ships for someone who is walking/balance 'challenged'?

If I remember correctly, these type of promos may apply only to balcony and above. So, booking a B4 (regular balcony) price gets you a an A 4 (concierge balcony), etc. (?)

But, someone else may be able to interpret the fine print from past experience.

But when Oceania was brand new my mother was booked in an "E" or "F" as I recall (traveling solo) and ended up in an midship "A". Now, that cruise was very undersold (LA to Costa Rica) and they hadn't yet divied up the "A" cabins into different categories. (A midship "A" cabin cost the same as one very forward or very aft. So it may be that B4 to B1 would end up being considered to be a four category upgrade.

 

 

Maybe it's easiest to call Oceania (or your TA) and ask.

I called once about a holiday sale 4 category upgrade and do remember it being B2 to A2, etc. what I can't remember is whether it applies to less than balcony categories.

What you describe is more along the lines of the occasional reshuffling upgrades.

The two I inquired about yesterday were on R class and it was C2 to B2 if you wanted a balcony.

I just got off the phone with O.

Basically the upgrade one "letter", with the "number" staying the same and prices are not reflected on site.

So if you want B2, you can book at the C2 price.

If you want A1, book B1.

Etc.

 

FWIW, on the cruise I was interested in, they were NOT doing PH-for-A-pricing.

He said PH-for-A was available on some trips, not all, and not mine.

In the past, we have inquired on this type promotion. Seems like a very good deal.

But the cruises we were interested in had limited cabin choices.

By all means check it out.

In 2016, the Labor Day Sale (4 category upgrade) included a very poorly booked cruise to the Western Caribbean. We took it just for the days on the ship - not the destinations. Booked a B2 and were upgraded to a Ph2.

 

In January of 2017, Oceania announced that our cruise was to be relocated and was going to Cuba as part of the first ships to visit Havana. Needless to say, the folks who then booked up the ship paid much more for that trip than we did. We joked that Oceania practically paid us to go!

 

For this year's sale, they are already sold out as no cruises come up that fit the 4 category upgrade as of this morning.
