We will be sailing on the Reflection in January. This will be our first Celebrity cruise & would like to know how strict the dress code is. I know that RC is much more relaxed than it was in the past & would like to know if the same is true for Celebrity.

I have always found that Celebrity passengers, take more pride in their appearance, than Carnival, NCL, and RCCL.

Yes, it is much more casual than in the past. "Chic Nights" replaced the formal nights. Please do a "search" on these boards and you will find about 14,000 posts on dress codes, or lack thereof, and if you check the Celebrity web-site you will also find everything you want to know about what and what not to wear.

Planning what to wear on your cruise holiday is easy. You should keep in mind three types of clothing: casual shipboard attire or onshore day wear; conservative resort wear for sightseeing or shopping; and evening wear.

 

Casual day wear, onboard or onshore, is all about lightweight, comfortable clothing and footwear. This includes:

 

Lightweight or cotton trousers and shorts.

Lightweight short sleeved and long sleeved shirts such as polo shirts and cotton T-shirts, lightweight rain jacket/wind breaker and sweatshirt.

Comfortable walking shoes or lightweight hiking boots, and waterproof sandals for wet landings.

Two or more bathing suits, as well as extra sunblock, sun hats, sunglasses and other types of sun protection.

If your cruise takes you to Alaska or Northern Europe we suggest you also pack a jacket and a couple of sweaters.

Conservative daywear is appropriate (and in many cases mandatory) when visiting museums, mosques, temples and churches Women should wear trousers or skirts that cover the knees, and long sleeved tops. Shorts and T shirts are not acceptable in many countries.

 

Evening Wear: Evenings onboard Celebrity Cruises call for two types of attire:

 

 

Evening Chic is the night you wear your holiday best. There is one Evening Chic night on cruises of up to 6 nights and two on cruises of 7 nights or longer. For the ladies, it’s time for your cocktail dress, or a skirt, trousers or smart jeans with an elegant top. For the gentlemen, it’s trousers or smart jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt or sweater with an optional jacket or blazer.

 

Smart Casual attire can be enjoyed every other night of your cruise. Women should feel comfortable wearing skirt, trousers or jeans with a casual top. For men, it’s trousers or jeans with a top that has sleeves.

Don’t, whatever you do, turn up in the main dining room or speciality restaurant in T-shirts, swimsuits, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear - you will be asked to leave! Shorts and flip flops are fine in the daytime but not in the evening.

Evening Chic dress code applies only to MDR not Specialty restaurants, Blu or Luminae. Dress code is smart casual every night in these restaurants. For men, you may wear pants and a collared shirt. The main thing you need to know is that shorts are not allowed in the evening in any of the restaurants except the buffet.

. Questions come up almost every week and create un-needed arguments. .I realize OP is just posing a question but this has been asked and answered over and over,

 

CRUISE CRITIC moved the dress code threads to a sticky at top of boards,.not sure if it is still the procedure,

 

The dress code is posted on the website and has not changed since Formal nights were replaced by Chic Nights.
