isladonna Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2018 I am usually always HOT! But I am wondering if on deck watching a movie, does it get chilly? Or anywhere else that may require a jacket/sweater? We are going Oct 7 to Mexico/Belize/Roatan. Wondering about the 8 year old or the DH getting chilly, not me! :')

livinthedream99 Posted September 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2018 My kids usually wear a sweatshirt and use the blankets, but they tend to run cold. The outdoor movies are one of our favorite things on Carnival. We really missed it on our last cruise with NCL. Hope you have a wonderful time!!! HeyNowMama1315 Posted September 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Since you have little ones, I would pack a sweater for them just in case. I find that occasionally the main dining room is a bit chilly to me after a day in the sun, or when you're over tired :)

jamscckmc Posted September 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2018 I find it colder inside. My last few cruises the MDR was often col and the showrooms cold. If you are going sleeveless ladies, bring a sweater with you.
DanvilleCruiser Posted September 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2018 We needed sweaters in the showrooms and especially in the Punchliner.
buddylover Posted September 6, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2018 I run HOT too......but always pack a light jacket and light sweaters.....and find I typically use them at some point on each and every cruise. It can get cool in the main areas of ship (theatres, atrium, on deck at night etc) and especially if your family members run on the cooler side. I have always been happy that I brought something long sleeved and light to wear around the ship.
cajunfla Posted September 6, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Depends on where you sit also. Not much breeze down around the pool, but much breezier on upper decks where you can still see the screen.
funinthesun1964 Posted September 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 6, 2018 You may get a blanket for the movies on Lido deck, but I always have a light sweater with me for the MDR, casino, or shows. Certain areas of the ship can be highly air-conditioned. I'd rather have the sweater with me just in case.
memecakes Posted September 6, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Pretty sure the main dining room and the theater serve as polar bear playgrounds when not in use. That’s the only explanation for why they keep them at such freezing cold temperatures all the time on every ship I’ve ever been on! I definitely recommend bringing a sweater or light shrug. teknoge3k Posted September 6, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Each person is different. I tend to stay warm all of the time. I have never once been the slightest bit chilly on a cruise ship. Granted we cruise during the summer, not the winter but never once have I needed anything with long sleeves.
cb at sea Posted September 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Unless you're right by the railing, the wind isn't too strong. The humidity will do a number on your hair, tho!

Or anywhere else that may require a jacket/sweater? We are going Oct 7 to Mexico/Belize/Roatan. Wondering about the 8 year old or the DH getting chilly, not me! :') It depends partly on where you're sitting. We once sat at the back, closest to the automatic doors that lead to the interior of Deck 9 (or 10, depending on which ship you're on). Every time someone would go in or out of those doors, there would be a rush of cold air from the ship's AC. We eventually moved to a different spot, away from the blast of cold air. OCruisers Posted September 7, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Sometimes, the public areas inside the ship can also get rather cold.
Treyatl2006 Posted September 7, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 7, 2018 It maybe a little chilly outside since the nights start to get cooler in October in the Caribbean. Especially if the ship is moving.
Quilcruisers Posted September 7, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 7, 2018 We cruised in October last year and I used my shawl a couple of times. I am very hot natured, from Houston, and even have to have a fan to sleep every night. With that said, I am always cold in the theater, comedy club, even the casino and definitely in the dining rooms. I will usually carry a small crossbody and will tie my scarf to the side of it so that it is out of the way but there as I need it. I would definitely bring something to cover your arms. Sent from my iPad using Forums I think MDR is so cold in part for the staff that is hustling around (don't want to see your servers perspiring if it's too warm). Also - in theory (or at least the past) - people dress up more for MDR and would need cooler than other areas. For MDR and the theatre you are more likely to have larger crowds which could be another reason for the colder temps too. With the lights the performers are likely to be warm regardless of the temp. I always bring a sweater or wrap, and can take it off if it happens to be warm. If it's too warm I won't enjoy the meal or show.
A&Jfamily Posted September 7, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 7, 2018 I always wear yoga pants and a hoodie and grab a blanket. The breeze makes me chilly.
dsotm73 Posted September 7, 2018 #21 Share Posted September 7, 2018 I've never been chilly in the Caribbean and our recent sailings have been in November, December and January. It may also depend on where you're sailing FROM as well. We sail out of NOLA and even when it's in the 40s at departure it gets up into the 60s and 70s not long after we hit the Gulf. If you leave from a more northern port it will be cooler a lot longer. Regardless, would it really be an inconvenience to bring a sweater just in case? Cinders411 Posted September 8, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 8, 2018 I always bring a sweater as I also get cold in the dining room and theatre. Movie night outside it is a must for me. The wind makes me chilly.
