Tigergenesis Posted September 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2018 We usually go for the lower priced interior rooms and have been happy with them, but this April we are planning to sail on the Conquest for our honeymoon. So we thought we would splurge and try a balcony. Any tips, suggestions or things I should keep in mind when selecting a balcony? These are the rooms available for our sailing: 6364 8261 8377 6364 Thanks in advance for any help! :)
A&Jfamily Posted September 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2018 Pretty sure there are more rooms available than that for a cruise that isn't til April...so you might want to talk to a PVP. I stay away from rooms that are directly above or below a venue that could be loud - either from cooking, morning chairs being set out, disco - you get the point. Generally, we go Deck 7 aft as we like the location to Lido/Promenade (2 floors up/down), but have staterooms above and below.

Generally, we go Deck 7 aft as we like the location to Lido/Promenade (2 floors up/down), but have staterooms above and below. There were a lot more available, mostly on deck 8 and above/below common areas. Most of those that I listed are mostly not above/below anything other than rooms. I was shooting for deck 7 (for the reason you mentioned), but there is only 1 left that is out of of our budget right now (premium vista balcony). I just noticed some Deck 10 balconies that I missed last night. Other than avoiding being above/below common areas due to potential noise, any other things you look for in a balcony location? Does aft, mid or forward make a difference to anyone? Port or Starboard?
dmdiver Posted September 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2018 Out of those choices, I would take 8261 because it has cabins above & below. One deck up to pools, buffet. If you can get a Lido balcony, it's just more convenient to the pools. Easy to go back & forth to the cabin if you forget something. It seems one of us always gets situated by the pool & then realizes we forgot sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. As far as aft, mid, forward - it makes no difference to me. evandbob Posted September 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2018 If choosing deck 6. look for what's below....avoid if the piano bar, comedy club or casino band is there. Noise from there sometimes lasts past midnight. If choosing deck 8, look for what's above.....avoid if there the buffet or pool tables and chairs are above. Noise from here sometimes starts at 4 or 5 am.
Tigergenesis Posted September 19, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted September 19, 2018 Thanks! We actually prefer having to walk further to get to places rather than being conveniently located.....the extra walking helps counteract the buffet and other indulgences. dmdiver Posted September 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2018 Lol, we try to take the stairs whenever possible. Eating dessert after every meal can pack on the calories.

Tigergenesis Posted September 19, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted September 19, 2018 I just found out about a conflicting event - so we hve to switch dates. In doing so, I discovered a deck 7 wrap around aft balcony #7447! It seems like a good choice? dmdiver Posted September 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 19, 2018 I've never had one of those, but sure would like to try one. Check the cabin thread - I would want to be sure it had some shade on it.
Lee Cruiser Posted September 20, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 20, 2018 From past experience, we avoid deck 6 because it is above the venues on the promenade. Our preference is deck 7 mid ship near the suites. You have cabins above and below you. Some people like the Lido area, but those are usually in the front of the ship and experience more movement. Rare mexicobob Posted September 20, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Any balcony with "aft" in the title would be great. An "aft wrap" is one of the best cabins at sea and I say that from experience.
