oldpharmguy Posted September 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2018 If I have OBC from 3 different sources (TA, CCL stock and self bought) in what order will this be applied to our purchases?
Rare kazu Posted September 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2018 If I have OBC from 3 different sources (TA, CCL stock and self bought) in what order will this be applied to our purchases? When I have asked, I have always been told that the non refundable OBC is used first (ie CCL stock). I can't recall if TA OBC is refunable or not. I think it is, but I don't want to lead you astray. Self bought OBC is totally refundable and will be the last one applied. I had a bit left over last cruise (not much but a bit) and it was refunded. I had CCL, HAL OBC (both which are non refundable) and self bought OBC, so obviously my self bought was applied last.

Some TA credit is a "pass thru" from HAL, like group amenities, and some is purchased. That which the TA purchased would be refundable, "pass thru" would not be. Cruzin with BQ & CQ Posted September 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2018 We work with a big box store TA and the SBC we have gotten from them has been refundable.
oldpharmguy Posted September 21, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Thanks for replies. Would I be able to tell them to use up the big box OBC and CCL stock OBC first. For the first time ever I'd like to walk off the ship with a credit balance. :D
Haboob Posted September 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Last I heard (a couple of years ago) is that the onboard systems didn't (yet) track restrictions or types, so all OBC became unrestricted and refundable once aboard. YMMV YMMV YMMV The last two cruises I was on the top entry on my bill was Promo Credit, with the amount of HAL/CCL credit. The next line was purchased TA/Self credit. On one cruise a supervisor was called to check and make sure that my spending exceeded the promo credit amount.

Krazy Kruizers Posted September 21, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2018 On one cruise we had a lot of HAL shipboard credit. Couldn't use it all -- but did give it a good try by buying some nice bottles of wine at dinner.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 21, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Just a thought. Don't know if anyone has ever tried this. Buy the $250 Beverage Cards. If you don't use them up, I know that what is left on them will be refunded to your credit card.

They say you can't but HAL just doesn't have the accounting ability. so your OBC is posted and then they just deduct ;)

I'm currently on the Prinsendam and also have a large amount of OBC, from the TA and from HAL. One can check their account through the online Navigator. The HAL OBC has a notation that it cannot be cashed in, or used in the casino. The TA OBC does not have that same notation.
