How’s the Suite Life?

I agree with most here. Our favorite suite on the Oasis is the Grand Suite. The CK and suite lounge are great but we really just love the extra room and much larger bathroom and closets. Before we started booking suite we used the same "we don't spend that much time in our cabin" excuse. With a GS we love spending more time in the cabin or on the balcony. It's sooooo much better than fighting over chairs at the pool and we have snacks and drinks delivered to our balcony. We would rather go on 1 cruise in a suite than 2 cruises in a balcony cabin...it's just a personal preference. I will say that if you are diamond or above, you are already getting many of the perks (priority boarding, diamond lounge, etc.) but it is the extra nuances that make the difference.

We just returned from our Allure cruise in a Crown Loft Suite. The cabin itself is incredible, but the perks made it worthwhile. Loved the Suite Lounge, Coastal Kitchen, getting great seats at the shows, the suite beach at Labadee, the escorted departure, and the sail away party from San Juan on the helipad.

There were two hiccups. First, at Port Everglades, where they tried to get us to sit in the back of the room because boarding had already started. They were unmoved by our staying in a suite, but when I pointed out we were diamond and the diamonds had boarded, they finally let us join the security lines to board the ship.

Second, we couldn't get to our cabin to get our keys because Deck 17 has keyed entry to the suite area. Finally got a key card from the concierge. After that, no complaints.

Overall, it was a lovely experience that we look forward to repeating. My advice is to go for it.

Just back from a 3 day cruise to Victoria, BC on the Explorer, and was terribly disappointed in my 2 bedroom "Grand Suite". One bedroom was a small inside with 4 bunk beds, the master was a small ocean view, and the living room was an average balcony sized cabin with a bigger balcony. The bathrooms were basic cruise bathrooms, nothing special, though the master bath had a tub (not even a jacuzzi) that didn't hold water. No nicer furnishings, nothing special at all, and it was really cramped for the 5 of us, though they stated it slept 8. The worst part was every time there was a sail away party (2) or a day at sea, the music from the pool deck blasted our balcony and room, with the loud bass beat acting very much like Chinese water torture. We were effectively driven from our room. It may be gauche to talk about money, but I paid as much for this "suite" for three days as I did taking my husband on a 28 day round trip cruise to the South Pacific in a balcony. NEVER AGAIN! It was my first time in a suite, my 60th birthday party, and I felt totally ripped off. Just my opinion...

We used to cruise in a Jr. Suite until Royal introduced the Royal Suite Class. We book 2 years in advance and we have slowly moved up the Suite Class. Last two years we have sailed exclusively in Star Class on either Oasis/Quantum Class ships. Once you have a Genie bring a full Chops dinner onto your balcony with white linen service you can’t go back.

BTW, NCL Haven Butler & Concierge can’t compare to a Royal Genie!
