Lottacruises Posted October 1, 2018 Author #26 Share Posted October 1, 2018 I remember getting one under the gym on the valor. That was loud!
Lottacruises Posted October 1, 2018 Author #27 Share Posted October 1, 2018 Keep us posted! We’d love to hear what cabin you end up with! Sent from my iPad using Forums Will do!! I received an "accessible" one once and loved it. The bathroom was huge, walk in shower, and no step.
riclop Posted October 1, 2018 #28 Share Posted October 1, 2018 I found I could take off work and immediately booked a cruise, last minute. The only choices of rooms were a suite and a TBA.... As I anxiously await my assignment, what has been your best experience with this, or your worst? Or would you not try this at all? Would not do that at all. You sound easy going, so Im sure you will be happy. Actually, I didnt care for the one HC cabin I got promoted to. As you say the bathroom is huge, to me it took up half the room in the cabin. Id rather have more cabin and less bathroom .. cant wait to see what cabin you get.

I just love to cruise so yes, anything is fine. The room that I had received with the big bathroom actually had a lot of space in the room itself too. It is one of the corner ones in the front, deck 10 or 9. It's one of the funny shaped ones. That's the only accessible one I have been in, buy i can imagine how much space a large bathroom would take away from a "regular" room. I feel my room when announced will be a little anticlimactic... Lol, is that the right word?

tidcruiser Posted October 1, 2018 #33 Share Posted October 1, 2018 We have done balcony guarantee twice. Once on Conquest got lido! saved 300 bucks! We booked our upcoming Magic and got mid ship cove which is what we wanted We saved 400 bucks! We are platinum. I believe that influences their decisions. firefly333 Posted October 2, 2018 #35 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Oh I didn't think about that! I haven't had that happen yet though. Only once. You have to go to the head porter in that room where they are taking luggage, and he has a big list with all the cabins on it. He will have it if worse comes to worse. But we hope its before, so we know before you sail.

firefly333 Posted October 3, 2018 #38 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Well they say the closer to sailing the better your chances are for a upgrade.
evandbob Posted October 3, 2018 #39 Share Posted October 3, 2018 I've booked a few last minute casino cruises and usually wound up with the worst cabin in my category. When I first started cruising, I took chances and booked a few TBA inside cabins since I was solo. Most weren't in good locations, like totally forward or aft on deck 1. Both very noisy and some had odd cabin shapes or layout. Once I was given an inside on deck 8 Veranda, yay, and once I got one of those larger 1A's mid ship aft on a Conquest class ship, another good result. So unless it's a free casino cruise, I'm not comfortable with letting the cruise line choose my cabin location for me anymore.
firefly333 Posted October 3, 2018 #40 Share Posted October 3, 2018 The OP is TBA on a pretty much sold out cruise. I hear those upsellers hard at work trying to find him a inside cabin and get some money to move someone out of one. He will get whichever cabin the upsellers can clear out imo if the insides are booked up.
firefly333 Posted October 5, 2018 #41 Share Posted October 5, 2018 They sure are taking their sweet time assigning a cabin?? still no news?
Travelgrrl Posted October 5, 2018 #42 Share Posted October 5, 2018 I barter to go on cruises sometimes, and you find out your stateroom at the port. (Other lines other than Carnival.) A cabin is a cabin. Never noticed extra noise, or movement or anything adverse in any cabin, and believe me, you're generally on the lowest deck available. If you think you're going to have fun, you're probably going to have fun!
Lottacruises Posted October 5, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Still no news I keep checking! I promise I will let you all know as soon as I find out, even if I'm at the port :-) lol, thanks for the fun. Yep, this cruise hasn't been listed since the day of or after I booked, even the one after it is not listed ( I was considering a b2b). I have noticed alot of noise in some cabins, for sure!! But yes, I know I'm going to have a good cruise! I can't wait!!
ProgRockCruiser Posted October 6, 2018 #44 Share Posted October 6, 2018 Is the cost below/at the price of the most basic cabin you could possible be assigned? Then don't sweat it! You are on a cruise ship - if you don't like the cabin much, there are those things called the outside decks and promenade and shows and comedy club and lobby/atrium and bars and restaurants...I'm sure you will find a way to entertain yourself! (And I didn't even mention the casino or sport bars...) I swear, if I could do over my first few cruises, I'd take no-snooze all day long... But I will admit we are suckers for aft balconies for morning coffee routine, if nothing else...
Lottacruises Posted October 6, 2018 Author #45 Share Posted October 6, 2018 The aft balcony is kind of nice.... Lol I was in one on deck 6 for my last cruise. I'm not sweating it, wherever is fine. It's fun to anticipate where though.

sgttami Posted October 6, 2018 #48 Share Posted October 6, 2018 The best I ever got was booking a balcony guarantee and getting an aft Owner's Suite! I didn't know until I got to the port...:D:D It was a long time ago...really haven't booked a TBA since.
