Escape Door Decorations

What exactly does everyone use as a door decoration? We never used anything before. How do you attach it to the door? Do we just use the tape on the decoration itself, or is that not the way to do it, or use scotch/duct tape? I want to make sure no one will remove the decoration. TIA

Thanks. I may just forget the whole idea anyway.

We always decorate inside our room in every cruise (and we cruise 5-6 times a year). We do a dollar store run and get seasonal decorations to turn a dull cruise cabin into something special.

We were sailing in late october a couple of years ago and had “spooky” Halloween decorations up. Our cabin steward folded several towel bats to add to our decorations (he got something extra in his tip) ;p

We always decorate our doors. We found some adorable custom banners that hang on a magnetic hook on Etsy. We usually get one for each day of the cruise and switch them out. We found that it is not only fun but helps to find our cabin after a long day of drinking.

Ours are usually custom with our names so have never had one taken.

NOTE: if you do decorate, do not use nails, staples, glue or anything that will ruin the finish of the door. The cruise line will take them down or remove them if it will damage their door. We use either magnetic hooks or command hooks.

Only put up a Dollar Tree dry erase board on our cabin doors. Funny to read the comments that some people write on them.

We've done the same, and have also enjoyed the comments left. It is useful to keep everyone in our party aware of where we are.

The best thing is to leave the door decoration at home. If you want to make sure no one removes a decoration, put it on the inside of the door, not the outside. Whatever side you put it on do not use glue, or tape of any kind, except for blue painters tape. The safest way to put it up is to use magnets.
