debeni Posted October 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2018 Which would you recommend for viewing your unique Australian animals: Taronga Zoo or Featherdale Wildlife Park? No need to see African and other animals since we can see those at our local zoo. Thanks
SinbadThePorter Posted October 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2018 Taronga Park is a traditional type of zoo with very limited interaction with the animals. Featherdale advertises itself as a hands-on wildlife experience. Featherdale is located out in the suburbs and not particularly easy to get to. Taronga Park is a short ferry ride across Sydney Harbour from Circular Quay and in one of the most stunning locations for a zoo anywhere in the world. GradUT Posted October 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Sinbad has pretty much spelled out the pros and cons of both Taronga and Featherdale. Featherdale is at least an hour’s drive from Circular Quay (and longer by public transport). Some guided tours to the Blue Mountains include a stop at Featherdale, so you might consider doing that. sailco Posted October 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2018 If you'd prefer the personal experience at Featherdale it's almost always combined with day trips to the Blue Mts.
GUT2407 Posted October 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2018 Personally much rather the ferry ride and zoo than the backroads and Featherdale.

Rare MMDown Under Posted November 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) You will enjoy Taronga Zoo, which is a great place to see Australian birds, as well as animals. Take time to enjoy the wide variety of birds in large walk through bird cages, as well as the live bird show. I see birds there I can never spot in the Australian bush. buchhalm Posted November 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2018 Taronga is wonderful. When you are bored with the animals, the views are spectacular, the ferry ride over is lovely. They do of course have all the Aussie animals, but it's no touching.
