We loved the ship's layout and size. I'm really looking forward to being on her again in January. Only 86 more days!! I'll be on the Pearl for the first time in November so I'm glad to hear you love her so much. This will be the largest ship I've been on.
fiftyguy Posted October 23, 2018 #27 Share Posted October 23, 2018 It's the Dawn with 5 sailings. We did the Majesty twice and next spring we'll be on the Gem for the second time.
Rare PATRLR Posted October 23, 2018 #28 Share Posted October 23, 2018 Back in the day we did the Seabreeze twice and the Oceanbreeze 3 times. All in a couple years time. I wouldn't hesitate to get on the Dawn, Getaway or Bliss again. In fact, my wife and I have both recently said we wouldn't mind going back on the Dawn, soon. karinad Posted October 24, 2018 Author #30 Share Posted October 24, 2018 Wow! I'm surprised at how many times people have gone on the same ship! I book a cruise by the itinerary and convenience and mostly price. I do have to like the ship, too! I like going on different ones because I enjoy seeing the different ones and what they have to offer. I'm sure that the cruise director has a lot to do with the atmosphere of the ship and how much we enjoy it, not to mention the Hotel Manager! debeni Posted October 24, 2018 #32 Share Posted October 24, 2018 We took the Getaway Western Caribbean cruise in Jan 2017. Liked it so much, we took the Getaway again for the Baltic cruise in Aug 2017. We are sailing the Jewel for a New Zealand cruise at the end of Jan 2019. nana56 Posted October 24, 2018 #36 Share Posted October 24, 2018 We’ve been on 20 cruises but This will be our first time on the breakaway. Do you know if their private island is complimentary? Is there a BBQ lunch provided for the passengers like there is on half moon cay?
Rare rxlowry Posted October 24, 2018 #37 Share Posted October 24, 2018 (edited) Majesty holds the record at 6 times but she was also close by in Baltimore. Gem 4 Spirit 2 Star 2 Jewel 2 If I like the ship, I like sailing on it again. Personally, I won't return to the Getaway. I'm not a huge fan of the Escape either. Rare mizLORInj Posted October 24, 2018 #38 Share Posted October 24, 2018 I'm laughing because years ago I said "why would someone cruise the same ship when there are so many from which to choose." Boyfriend likes to occasionally remind me I said this. However, I am in the multiple times on the same ship due to convenience. If it cruises from NY or NJ I will go on it and probably multiple times. However, I do like variety, so there are times where I feel it's time to change things up. Example: 4 or 5x on Anthem of the Seas, last was in August (last minute trip) and had another booked for November. Though we love pretty much everything about that ship, it was time to go on something new for us and NCL Escape was chosen for the same week though one night fewer. Needed something different. So we do go on the same ship multiple times, but there comes time for a change for us too.

Food is included at GSC, but not drinks. Like HMC, it is a tender port. (not dock) Hope you have fun. We like Breakaway.
karinad Posted October 24, 2018 Author #41 Share Posted October 24, 2018 Convenience would be one of the main reasons to go on the same ship. We're about 3 hrs away from NYC, Bayonne, and Md. We have never done a Princess Ship from a home port. I'm not sure if where they dock is more difficult to get to.

cdnsteelman Posted October 24, 2018 #43 Share Posted October 24, 2018 Jade x 3 Jewel x 3 Sun x 2 Rotterdam x 2 I'm sure to be in the minority but the ship itself is quite a ways down my decision tree... A) find a window when I can cruise, B) narrow it down to interesting itineraries in that widow, C) narrow itineraries down to departure ports that I can access reasonably easy from a airfare and flight logistics perspective. I will say that the Sun and her unique layout and smaller size played a big role in how much I enjoyed sailing BA to Santiago around the Horn. I've only been on one of the modern generation of ships (Breakaway) and I found the crush of people to be a bit much but enjoyed some of the newer features. Epic up soon so I'll have another "big" ship experience for comparison.

jskinsd Posted October 24, 2018 #45 Share Posted October 24, 2018 I have completed 21 cruises or 24 weeks on the Sun and have done 7 more cruises on the Jewel. Sailed on the Bliss this October and will sail again on here the first week of November through the Panama Canal. So that will make 3 weeks on the Bliss too. In all I have done over 35 weeks on NCL cruises and 61 weeks total. The funny thing is that I have met many Plus and Ambassador members whose cruise history puts me to shame (shout out to Cynthia, Budget Queen and Tom). They just don't like to brag about it on CC. There is nothing better than cruising a ship where you know a lot of crew members and they treat you like a "KING", even though in reality I know I am only the court jester. Hearthosesteeldrumsplayin Posted October 25, 2018 #47 Share Posted October 25, 2018 I've been on the Jewel 2X. Was the first NCL ship we were ever on, in the Haven and now hooked! Sky 2X, with 3rd upcoming Pearl 2X Gem, Escape, Dawn, Star so far only once each. Bliss upcoming. We usually sail based upon itinerary, but the Bliss I picked to check out the ship. (Although I have to admit I did a repeat on the Sky because I went with girlfriends in the Owner's Suite with the hot tub on the balcony, so I had to go back and take DH!) The Jade! I mostly pick a cruise for it's itinerary and price, of course! It's not that I didn't like the ship, but, I'm not sure I love knowing every nook and cranny! Plus, there were things that we weren't happy about. I'm sure you'd have that on other cruises, too.! Last month we were on her for 12 nights and it felt that I never left the ship from the yr. before. We've also been on The Gem a couple yrs. before that. We, also, booked an obstructed OV this past time instead of a balcony, so the cabin and the location was a little different. Does anyone love returning to the same ship year after year? How often does NCL make changes in menus, entertainment or even refurbishments? It was a little less then a year that we were on her and I did see a show or 2 that were the same. What's your opinion or thoughts with this? Out of 18 cruises we have duplicated ships 3 times. Carnival Freedom, NCL Jewel, and Carnival Destiny/Sunshine. Each time we did it there were a few years between and totally different itineraries. We just choose what ever ship best fits our vacations needs at that time and if we happened to sail it before then so be it.
Barb Nahoumi Posted October 25, 2018 #49 Share Posted October 25, 2018 We'll be boarding the Dawn tomorrow, having enjoyed many cruises on her in different cabins. It does feel "homey" to us, and we do enjoy knowing where everything is, and that some of the crew remember us. Cruising out of Boston is so easy, no flights or hotel stays needed. Just a ride in by a car service, and we're on vacation. Next year we're booked once again on the Gem to Bermuda. We have been on her before and enjoyed our 10 day cruise out of New York. The Gem has some great features, such as the Spinnaker Lounge still intact, the Great Outdoors, two main pools, and a bridge viewing room.
gooch47 Posted October 25, 2018 #50 Share Posted October 25, 2018 Seven times on the NCL Jewel, all out of NOLA, for a total of 49 days. We did several b2b's. At the time we were getting free cruises from the Caesar's chain of casinos. Most days spent on a single ship was 68 days (4 cruises) on the Star Princess.
