Kermit426 Posted November 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2018 I just logged on at 12:01 am on the day that online check in opened. Earliest appt time was 12:30 - 1:00pm seems very strange as the only times were 12:30-1, 1-1:30, and 1:30-2 I checked at 11:50 pm and online check in was not open. I was online right as midnight passed, so I can't imagine all the earlier time slots were taken?? Have normally gotten the 11:00 or 11:30 appointment times, but don't normally sail out of Miami. Anyone else have this experience? Magic on 2/17 if that helps.
mredandchis Posted November 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2018 that does sound strange , i looked it up and it sails at 400 so i would also think there would be before noon check in times. Never say that at miami before.
L&J Posted November 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2018 Me too, same ship....stayed up and was online the second it opened. I had the same late choices and wondered what happened to all the early slots. We've never had to pay final payment first but I was wondering if those who have paid in full had the choice of an earlier slot? We've sailed out of Miami several times and had 10:30 or 11 time slots.
bakersdozen12 Posted November 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2018 I’ll post the same comment that I did for L&J’s post. Could be that there are a lot of Platinums and Diamonds on the cruise, so they don’t want those earlier time slots to be overwhelmed with lots of people showing up. Hence, why they only opened up 12:30 and after for general boarding.

That would make sense....but I just looked this up to see what it was. The Premier Casino cruise is the same day (Feb 17) but on the Carnival Miracle. i00762 Posted November 20, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2018 The Magic also has one. DW, Dad, Stepmom, and I are all on the Premier on Magic 2/17/19.
evandbob Posted November 20, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2018 (edited) Just off last week's Magic ULTRA casino cruise. As a Diamond, I had an 11AM checkin. Then I got an email saying check in and boarding would be delayed by an hour and cabins would be ready later than usual as well.. I arrived at 10:45, checked in quickly, then waited till 11:30 or so to actually board. My cabin was available with my S&S card in the mail slot. I believe that boarding Carnival ships at 10 or 10:30AM is going to be a fond memory soon. As a Diamond, I haven't been on a ship that early in years. FijiFlip Posted November 21, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 21, 2018 We are sailing this Sunday the 25th. I got an email yesterday saying the check in times had all been pushed back and hour because one of the gangway ramps was not going to be available and boarding would be slowed down significantly. I wonder if those times are posted that way in response to the ports announcement that the ramp was broken and under repair.?
Kermit426 Posted November 22, 2018 Author #13 Share Posted November 22, 2018 Thanks everyone for your responses. Sounds like for my particular cruise, the answer is likely Premier Cruise having the earlier boarding times.

And the Premier cruises also have more Platinums and Diamonds than regular sailings, although not to the extent of Journeys cruises.
