36 Hours In Rome

Some good suggestions -- I've long said my favorite season in Rome is from late November through February -- fewer crowds but unpredictable weather. Still, I've had more good weather than bad...

I strongly second visiting the various branches of the Museo Nazionale -- particularly the ones mentioned. Easy to get to near Termini and absolutely crammed with wonderful frescoes, mosaics and sculpture from ancient Rome, along with more humble objects.

I also think that the Mausoleum of Santa Costanza is wonderful -- a bit more off the beaten track but worth a visit. The mosaics are some of the oldest Christian (transitioning from pagan) Roman examples. For a similar mosaic experience that's a bit easier to get to, consider a visit to Santa Prassede, which is very near the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.

I also found a new restaurant to try on my next visit, so thanks! 😀

Absolutely agree with you about November in Rome.  We have been there a number of times and our November visit was the most enjoyable.  We were fortunate, the weather was perfect.  The lighting was different from other visits.  The city seemed to have slowed down a little.
