Can you still 'cash out' carnival gift cards at the casino?

We went on a Carnival cruise last April and paid using Carnival Gift Cards from AARP.  We also put gift cards on our on board expense account for on board spending.  There was a way to add funds to use in the casino and then cash out the account.  Is this still available?  I bought enough gift cards to cover my sister's cabin and she had to cancel for our Feb cruise.  Needless to say I have $2000+ in gift cards.  Any help would be great.

I played a few slots on the Splendor in October.  Now, let me preface this by saying I never cash out OBC as we tend to use it all.  Anyway, as I was playing, I noticed something on a machine that said something like: "You are 150 points away from cashing out." I have no idea what it meant except I thought to myself that perhaps Carnival was making it harder to cash out non-refundable OBC.  Your guess is as good as mine.

Were you using any casino cash/free play money?

Wondering if anyone had luck with this more recently?  I did book excursions through Carnival to try to use some up, but I am second guessing these.

We were on Liberty January 20. I had $200 worth put on my Sail and Sign on last sea day then when we went to casino played for a while, each of us took $100 from our account and put it in players bank.  What was left we cashed out at the casino cashier that night. Works very well. Guest services doesn't ask what you're doing with the cards, and the casino doesn't care where the money comes from.

I've used GS Diamond line to cash out AARP gift cards to cover casino and other on board expenses.  I go there on my way off the ship or returning from an excursion, rarely a line at those times.  Haven't tried to cash an AARP card at the casino window though.

This is really interesting; was reading a post that said you can you load up your carnival gift cards into your S&S account at the kiosks.

I had read that before our Magic cruise last year but also read the kiosks never worked.  I tried but the kiosk was down so I had to stand in the very long GS line when we first got onboard! I hope they work on the Horizon in a few weeks!

Yes you can but it seems hit and miss (according to a number of posts on this forum) as to whether it will work or the machine spits out an error message telling you to visit GS to add the card value to your account. I did not try the kiosk on our last cruise as the lines at them were longer than the line at GS.

So it appears even if you can't exchange carnival gift cards for cash/chips at the cashiers cage, you could load the GCs to your sign and sail account either at GS desk or the Kiosk.  Once that's done, you could go to the casino and  you can fund up to $5k day on your Carnival Players Club Account with your S&S account transaction fee free on slot machines.
