What is the earliest you can get on the boat and the last hour you need to get off the boat after a week long cruise?

We usually fly into the departure city a day or two before the cruise begins and are staying at a hotel. Due to having to check out of the hotel around 11am or so (depending on the hotel) we usually show up to the port shortly thereafter. 

 

For a variety of reasons some show up later. Some people hate crowds and in general it is less of a crowd and shorter lines if you get to port after the initial rush of people are onboard. Others fly in the day of the cruise so the time they arrive depends on their flight time...etc

We also fly down a day or two early. We stay at the Embassy Suites right near the port. We get up the morning we board, have the included breakfast, pack up and head to the port. We are usually there about 10am. We have priority boarding so we are on 11 or 11:30am.

We generally like to board early as sitting around in a hotel room is not particularly exciting.  On occasion especially if a ship is departing a little later we have used the AM for an extra touring day in a port we have not spent much time in.  Then we board later.  So a lot depends on what else is available to do in Port.

We also stay in a local hotel the evening before a cruise. Normally have a leisurely breakfast and check-out of the hotel by 11:00, taking a shuttle or taxi to the terminal. When we used Princess, we had priority boarding, so were aboard by around 11:30 to Noon.
