Alcohol package could be included if you don't choose the shorex option If you can limit yourself to the # of shorex that are "free" then your additional costs would only be purchases ashore and/or an onboard bar bill. However.....(and isn't there always a 'however') O has some wonderful opportunities in the Overland offerings that are ADDITIONAL costs; Taj Mahal, Angkor Wat, Beijing overnight, Machu Pichu, etc. Even if you do those with private tours from the Rollcalls you still must pay for them! That is quite a lot of free things. Some of the places we have already seen so probably not redo them but there are ones that I am sure would be worth the cost of. It is all a dream at the moment as we have two small dogs who are 8 this year. I have a vague plan that if and when something happens to them and I am dreading that day, will be the time that we sell our rental properties and go for it. Mind you as John Lennon said God laughs at people who make plans. I followed your report by the way and loved it. See I ave been lurking for a while
cbb Posted May 3, 2019 #1627 Share Posted May 3, 2019 jaxw17- wow, you have been lurking for a while!!! In my world, there is absolutely nothing wrong with planning future cruises/trips. I'm in the process of researching 2021!!! We're scheduled for ATW20 and busily researching the #$%^^ out of those ports; unfortunately O hasn't released all their shorex offerings yet and with 90+ ports some folks are going to be scrambling when they are published. of the ones published we have chosen what we'd like so we can choose those immediately. We take shorex when time back to ship is critical or where the US State Dept reminds us that not all ports are equally safe! And if there are problems, our heir will have a corporation to call on for answers. Each of us gets 35 freebies which is a price performer compared with ATW16 when we had to pay for all of them! have a wonderful time planning! (fwiw....we left home on a pre-planned trip 3 days after our beloved yorkie died and somehow it eased the pain of losing her-- no daily reminders of our loss)
Go-Bucks! Posted May 3, 2019 Author #1628 Share Posted May 3, 2019 I went with 3 other people to spend 3 days and 2 nights in Yangon, Myanmar...what a great decision that was! I loved the people and there was so much to see and do. Stayed at the Shangri-la hotel...great choice with excellent service. Cost, with food, was $135/night. Went to the fantastic Bogyoke Aung San market (also called the Scott market), the gorgeous Shwedagon pagoda, the Sule pagoda, the Strand hotel, Immanuel Baptist church, Junction City mall, KFC (!), and took an incredible ride on the circular train from the Yangon City Railroad station. This city/country was one of the highlights of this cruise! I hope to go back on a land trip....many people are so poor but they are also very kind, gentle and friendly.
Senior Citizen Posted May 3, 2019 #1629 Share Posted May 3, 2019 Great photos of Yangon! You really experienced it the best way—by staying in town! How are you guys doing on the ship right now? I know you veered south, but are you experiencing any effects from the weather in India like rain and rough seas?

bob brown Posted May 5, 2019 #1631 Share Posted May 5, 2019 Now on the leeward side of Sri Lanka, the seas have gotten smoother. We’re told that this is the best place to spot a Blue whale....so far just a lot of dolphins...🙂

You might win a photo contest with that shot that might pay for your RTW cruise 😀 Edited May 7, 2019 by Paulchili
