Carnival Fascination

:mad: Hi all, I just wanted to say that I just came back from the Carnival Fascination leaving this last Friday Jan 13, 06. I have cruise with carnival before back on Sept 2001. The service of this ship is the worst. I will start off by saying, this ship is 12 years old is not well keep at all, it has a very funny scent like maybe urine. The cabin steward was nice so I thought I ask the very first night that I needed a blow dryer, some shampoo and conditioner, told him the second night etc. I never got anything. We had the same soap thoughout our cruise, they never bother to gives us a new soap, which we ask since day 1. What really got me even mad was the fact that we ask for a small table for my husband and I since it was our anniversary, they just said "No" you can not have that this was at the senseation dining room, never gave us an explanation just said NO.. My hubby got mad and I just said really loud so they can hear me ok no problem I will give a hugh complain to carnival cruise lines office, since I have the person's name I will report him. Not even 2 seconds pass they, said madam please follow me and then they sat us down. The photo gallery was so disorganized that we spend 30 mins trying to look for our pictures they we had taken a day prior.

The shore ex for the bahamas had very limited activities not much to do, we wanted to go on the Thiller ride with stingrays and they cxld that tour, thank god I did not book it before I will have not gonna my money back. Their was a broadway show on the last day of the cruise that was extremely boring. The alcohol beverages were nasty, I order a pina colada, it did not taste at all like a pina colada it had so much vodka, what ever happen to the coconut? :eek:

Now I know for sure that next time I decide to go on a 3 day bahamas cruise I will probably go on Royal Carribean...

Oh another thing Carnival "The Fun Ships" on what ship is that on, because on my was not.....

Wow. That's very unlike my experience in December. I didn't notice any odor anywhere on the ship. My cabin steward was wonderful. He kept my cooler full of ice and when I requested a robe (I had an inside cabin) he cheerfully brought me one. I had a friend with a different steward and hers told her she couldn't have one so my steward got one for her too.

 

As for the ship, I was surprised what good shape it was in considering it's age. And as far as the fun? I had 6 first time cruisers with me and the had so much fun that they're hooked!

 

Funny how two people on the same ship can have such different experiences.

 

Good luck with RCL...my experience on them is that the ship was dead after 11 pm. If you're looking for fun, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

Pina Colada with vodka? Guess that bartender needs to go back to school. Maybe RCI will cater more to a passenger with a gimme gimme gimme attitude. Thanks for the chuckle though.

I hear ya there! I always thought Pina Coladas were made with RUM not vodka!

 

As for not getting money back for a cancelled tour ... that's just completely incorrect. I've had shore tours booked through CCL cancelled twice (including a presale booked via the CCL website for a cruise I went on last week) and have always gotten my money refunded in a timely fashion.

OK I just have to say one thing, just the mention that you needed shampoo & conditioner really makes me think, did you not think you were going for an over night? Granted this was only a three day cruise ,you do not pack your own shampoo!!! I have stayed in many five star resorts & would not think of not packing my own shampoo & soap!

OK, maybe it isn't a brand new ship, but I will tell you that I had the best time I've ever had on a cruise on Fascination last year. I met so many wonderful people and the room was large and the beds were comfy. The drinks I had were excellent....and my mom even won $500 (after spending only $9) in the casino. I really enjoyed the band AZ IZ I think they were called. I guess we each have our own experience...mine turned out great!!!

I am still scratching my head over A- why a pina colada would taste like vodka and B- how someone could go on a cruise and not even enjoy one minute of it :confused: even if some things don't go your way...you are still in the middle of the ocean, away from your job, with no cooking or cleaning to do...how bad can life be?

I'm sailing the Fascination in about 81 hours. Am I happy about this? YESSSSSS! Am I worried one bit about any truth to this post whatsoever? That would be a resounding NOOOOOO! When you don't have enough sense to take shampoo or conditioner on a 3 day cruise and expect your Pina Colada to taste like vodka you pretty much can ascertain where the person is coming from. Some things are so sick and wrong that running the other way just comes naturally.

 

Eighty-one hours. Life is good!!!!!

Have fun!!!! We did it in December and had suuuucccchhhh a blast! We loved it and can't wait to go back. When you get onboard, look for Marvin near the pool and buy a drink from him- tell him the lady that kept calling him Issac in December says HI!!! He was excellent, and always made sure I was taken care of! He even bought us a round!

I sailed the Fascination in June and had a blast.

 

The little basket in the bathroom had shampoo and conditioner in it and the soap was from a dispenser on the wall of the shower. I think it was body wash/shampoo.

 

I don't understand the soap problem.

Um, I'm guessing that if someone could not understand that you are supposed to TAKE shampoo and conditioner with you that liquid soap might be a little too complicated to understand.

 

Just my feeling on this one.

just have to weigh in for anyone researching the fascination - we had the best time on a 4 night cruise last year - the crew were super friendly, the boat while older is well maintained and the food was more than good. (The pizza, esp. the mushroom, is to die for!)

 

And the drinks? Just fine!

 

So please don't let this one negative poster dissuade anyone from taking a quickie getaway on this ship.

I am sure it was a terrible cruise for them. There are people on every cruise that have a terrible time - I personally don't know any, but... I am sure that they are out there. Some of them had such a bad time, they will look for any venue to vent - many find there way here.

 

If you are worried about going on the Fascination - don't, there are enough positive reviews that YOUR attitude will determine whether or not you have a great time.

 

I just can't imagine having a bad cruise, even if I paid 7K, the toilets didn't work, someone stole my make up, greasy crew members were drinking in the bar etc. etc. etc.

I sailed her twice and would go tomorrow if I wasn't On the Serenade in Feb. Some people just don't know how to make the best out of a situation. sometimes you have to adjust on the fly and have fun in spite of dirty hair.
