Cancelling an optional excursion booked online

What is the policy on cancelling a paid for optional excursion book online with Viking Ocean?

1.  Is it credited back to your credit card?

2.  Is it marked as credit on your onboard account if you cancel in the 7 days before the start of the voyage?

3.  If you cancel once on board the ship, what is the policy?

Thanks for the help.

For us, cancellations/changes handled onboard depended on how you paid for them originally.  If booked with OBC then returned to your OBC account.  If you went beyond OBC and booked on your credit card then returned to card.  If you have a refundable balance in your OBC account (and not all is refundable) then VO mails you a refund check about a month after disembarkation.  Clear as mud right?

If you cancel an optional excursion before you board, it is credited back to whatever you used to for payment. If you used a credit card, it goes to your credit card. If you used OBC, it goes back on your account as an OBC.

If you cancel on board, it goes as a credit to your on board account. For example, on our last cruise, we missed a port where we had an optional tour scheduled. The refund was credited to our on board account thus reducing our final balance.

and if your final balance is less than the cost of the excursion you will either get cc or sometimes a check.  There is a window before you leave about a week I think that you can not reserve or cancel shore excursions.

and in either case, it will take a while to process --and a while can some times be counted in weeks.
