Noordam Nov 23 2019

My husband and just signed up for a Holland America Noordam cruise starting Nov 23 2019 from Auckland to Sydney.  We have never cruised in this part of the world and would appreciate feedback on the timing, school holidays, weather or anything else you think of.  There was one member for the Cruise Critic Roll Call, but they decided to change their cruise to Dec 7.

School holidays won’t have started yet, weather may be cool atound the South of NZ, warming as you get closer to Sydney.

 

im a huge fan of layers when it comes to clothing.

The crossing can be rough, or smooth, it’s realky the luck of the draw.

I always say that here in NZ be prepared for 4 seasons in 1 day , that is any weather.

They have summer in NZ.

 

It's just that you can never be sure which day it's on.

I'm looking at this cruise, looks like a great itinerary. I like having most of the sea days at the end. My concern is this is an older ship that has not been refurbished. It is due at the end of the year.

We did New Zealand on the Noordam, and I thought they had the best piano bar we've come across. For us, it's the staff on HAL that set the line apart - always smiling, always remember your name, always lovely. Enjoy.

We were on Noordam in January just gone for 14 days, Sydney-Tas-SA-Sydney, she is one of the most beautifully maintained and kept older ships we have been on in recent years. Super clean, well organised, great staff and of course the usual HAL cabins, just that touch more room than everyone else on these Class of ship with great bed!!

Food was a bit hit and miss but that can be a good thing sometimes, we didn’t overeat. 

Enjoy your cruise, she is a lovely mid size ship.
