Where to stay in Venice?

Hi there! I have a cruise in August leaving out of Italy and we want to stay a day there before boarding the cruise and a day after the cruise. Can anyone recommend where would be a good place that is close to the port? Do you think an AirBnB would be better than an hotel? We are taking the Norwegian Star and first time on a cruise on our girls trip!

The hotels closest to the Marittima Cruise Terminal will be located in or near Piazzale Roma. There is a people mover in Piazzale Roma that you can take over to Marittima.

Frequently mentioned are: Arlecchino, Olimpia, Ca' Doge & Santa Chiara.

Great info here:

Enjoy your cruise!

We have stayed at Arlecchino pre-cruise and loved it.

Conveniently located at Piazzale Roma near the People Mover and Taxi stand (if you prefer to taxi to ship).

We have Hotel Villa Rosa booked for June, but it is closer to the train station (that's how we will be arriving on our next trip)

Arlecchino books up fast (actually they all do, so book early)

You will LOVE Venice!

We stayed at Hotel Olimpia. That's my vote! Loved the hotel. Get with the breakfast option. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and good! Two doors down is Arlecchino. Santa Chiara is right by the Vaporetto stop. All are good choices.

google Tom’s port guides.    They have tons and tons of useful advice. Better than any guide book.

Not really true. They provide information but not all options, only what the 'creator' of the guides has actually researched and/or done.

It's much better to read several guide books AND current information online rather than to take one person's words as gospel. I have found errors in those guides.
