Danube and Prague

Uniworld offers a 10 day Danube and Prague itinerary.  Is there any other cruise line that includes Prague in it's Danube cruise itinerary?  TIA

As you are probably aware, Prague is not located on the Danube river - it is on the Vltava river. There are lots of Danube river cruises that include Prague as a pre or post cruise add on (Viking, Gate 1, AMA, to name just a few).

Can you fly to Prague?

Absolutely. On our last trip, we took the train to Prague & then flew home after spending a week in this fascinating city - the airport, Vaclav Havel, is located about 25 minutes from the historical center of Prague.

Thanks dogs4fun.  A 3 night Viking extension would be about $1,600 for both of us, including breakfast, 1 tour and transfers.   Possibly could do 4 or 5 nights on our own for same $$?  Would transferring to the ship in Passau be a problem?

Yes, the extensions are pricey - one can do much better on one's own. I cannot help with information regarding transfer to your ship.

We are booked on Avalon - Legendary Danube

Prague start- Budapest end in May.

We too are booked on the legendary Danube but for the end of September.

I am noticing, however, that this same itinerary for 2020 , still called the Legendary Danube -is reduced from 10days to 8days and does not include Prague as part of the trip. It would now be an add on.

We are booked with Avalon on this cruise for early November with friends. Since DH and I had spent several days in Prague we just booked the cruise only portion, but our friends opted to include Prague. Being able to decide whether to add-on or not is a definite advantage IMHO.

We did this last year.  Originally, we thought it was pretty pricey, especially when we looked at rates in the same hotel.  The trip from Prague to Passau or Nuremberg is several hours.  When we started adding up the individual pieces - hotel, transfers, breakfast, city tour it was more than doing it ourselves but not that much more and decided the convenience of a single vendor doing everything was worth it.

Viking took very good care of us in Prague and would use their extension again.
