JaiJae Posted February 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Do ships get an overhaul when moving to a new port or do they just start sailing as soon as it gets there? Wondering if the Dream will get a good cleaning and maintenance when it gets to Galveston from New Orleans. Rare shof515 Posted February 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2019 it depends on the schedule . if the ship has a day or two between two ports, they will do a good cleaning and any maintenance work.. they will be no overhauls like what usually gets done in dry dock.
mets123 Posted February 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2019 If it is a non revenue repositioning (no passengers), there will be more cleaning done. If it's a repositioning from Europe to the states, or vice versa, the ship gets in about 6 am, passengers debarck, and new ones get on. It is business as usual and no additional work is done.
Aplmac Posted February 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Additionally Coast Guard/Health Dept. inspections are random, very random so a certain standard of upkeep must be maintained in case that gets sprung upon them - and that's no laughing matter!
