Hi.  Never been to Key West!!  Booked trolley tickets.....is it worth it? Not looking for a long boring tour/ride..... looking for an informative tour that will show us most of Key West in a short amount of time....

We are docked 8-5 in September....looking to do the trolley in the morning to see the best of Key West...

Yay or nay??

There are two different types of such tours in Key West.   Old Town Trolley takes you around the island in a standard trolley vehicle...like a small bus with glass windows.   It stops at various points where you can hop off to check out things and then hop on the next trolley when it comes along.    The Trolley is very convenient because you can take it all day long, hopping on and off as you want.   The other is the Conch Train which is a series of small open cars pulled by an engine that looks like a big toy train engine.  If you've ever been to Disney World, it's just like the tram service that takes you from the parking lot to the park entrance.  I don't think the Conch Train allows you to hop off and on but after you've done the tour, you can walk to some of the places you really want to check out.  The Conch Train is nice because it's open air and you feel a bit closer to things.  Either offers an  enjoyable way to get an overview of Key West.

We were just in Key West for our first time a couple weeks ago and did the trolley.  It is hop on, hop off.  I’d recommend staying on for the whole tour then deciding if you want to hop on/off after that.  The driver was excellent pointing out different things and had a great sense of humour. Also the sides were open air.

I always book Old Town Trolley.  As mentioned about get on and stay the complete look then you will have a better idea for what's in Key West and what you want to do ESPECIALLY if you have a good/fun driver.  Some are EXCELLENT and if you get one be sure to stay on for the loop.  Some are just...well...DRIVERS and don't have much to say.  Afterwards you can get on and off as you wish.

I noticed my ship offers a Trolley Tour of Key West with on/off privileges for like $29 as compared to $37 if you buy from the Trolley company itself.  Also, you get admission to the Butterfly Conservatory.  Hard to believe a ship's tour would cost less and give more.  Does anyone know if this is the same trolley tour that you can buy on your own off the ship?

We are booked on the Majesty of the Seas and saw they are offering a trolley excursion with free admission to the Butterfly Conservatory.  Amazingly, their price is less than booking directly with Old Town Trolleys. Normally ship's tours are more expensive.  Does anyone know if the ship's tour and the Old Town Trolley tour is basically the same except for the Butterfly visit included?

There isn't THAT much to see.  Key West is best known by it's main street...Duvall.   Just wander about on your own, if you're looking to do this on the cheap. It is America, after all....you can do what you want there!
