Ginb56 Posted March 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Hello all. Can I ask for your experiences please for hotels doing cruise stay/parking packages on the periphery of Southampton? Our September cruise coincides with the Boat Show so our usual central hotels aren’t offering the cruise packages due to no spare parking. So any suggestions for the hotels further out would be welcome please - the Hiltons, Solent, Premier Inns, country manors etc. Also how you found the taxi transfers, given the extra distance. Many thanks for any thoughts you can share...
Ranchi Posted March 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2019 I take it you are driving. We used to stay in Southampton the night before the cruise but often found it expensive/difficult to book. Now, we look to book an hour or so from the port; we start our search anywhere south of the M4. We don’t go for fancy hotels. It appears that newly opened (less than a year) hotels in large chains seem to offer the best chance of a good deal. We bite the financial bullet and park using CPS. Rare Eglesbrech Posted March 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Try Botley Park (part of the MacDonalds group) they do a park and cruise deal. The hotel is about 25 minutes out of Southampton on the Winchester Road. They include parking and transfers in the package price.
majortom10 Posted March 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Best Western Chilworth Manor is on the outskirts of Southampton and does cruise packages.
terrierjohn Posted March 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Do you definitely want a cruise package with parking? Parking4cruises offer very reasonable parking at Southampton which would allow you to seek cheaper hotel prices further afield.
smj777 Posted March 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2019 When our cruise clashed with the boat show, we stayed at the Holiday Inn at Eastleigh. They do a cruise and stay package with taxi transfer to and from the ship. This hotel is very convenient if you're coming to Southampton along the M3 as it is only just off the motorway and makes for an easy getaway on the way home. Onelung Posted March 6, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2019 We booked at Holiday Inn Express in Southampton for the night before our Cruise in July and Penguin Parking for the cruise itself. This means we just a short drive from the hotel in the morning to the Parking place and they take us to the port in a mini bus - suits us 🙂
Kittyonions Posted March 6, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 6, 2019 We used the Hilton with a Stay, Park and transfer package. We found it very good, with our car parked where we had left it in the car park for the duration of the cruise.Nice to arrive early on the day before cruise departs, and make use of the hotels swimming pool etc. Very relaxing start to a cruise. NSWP Posted March 7, 2019 #10 Share Posted March 7, 2019 We stayed at Holiday Inn, right on Southampton Waterfront, very close to Terminals. Very nice.

The Op said that they cannot stay and park in hotels in the centre of Southampton because of the boat show that is on and they are not offering cruise/park stays. minikiss Posted March 10, 2019 #12 Share Posted March 10, 2019 we always stay in the Travelodge Eastleigh, but you would need to arrange parking separate. We have sailed before when the boat show is on and know rooms anywhere around Southampton book up quick.
Ginb56 Posted March 11, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted March 11, 2019 Many thanks for all your suggestions and comments. We’ve booked the Ageas Hilton after lots of googling - never realised there’s so much choice for out-of-Southampton hotels doing cruise packages. Terrific forum - thanks everyone.
