Artemis908 Posted March 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2019 I can swim, my fiancee can't. I have done snorkeling before where the water wasn't very deep and you could still touch the ground. I am looking at the "Everybody loves stingrays and sharks" short excursion with Royal Caribbean and I can't tell what all is involved with the excursion. Can anyone tell me if the water is deep? JohninDC Posted March 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2019 They should provide everyone with an inflatable vest that will help her to float - no need to swim, just float and kick gently with your flippers
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2019 But truly helps to be able to swim. IIRC, this excursion is on the mainland. Water can be rough or there could be swells. You may or may not see the bottom. Certainly can't touch the sea floor and keep your head above the water.

I understood it took place at Stingray Beach between International and town? Here is their website: https://stingraybeach.com/everybody-loves-rays-sharks-tour/ Can’t comment on swimming as I have never been but encounter appears to be in waist deep water. Sorkeling goes much deeper and some reviews warn of strong currents. Edited March 12, 2019 by c-leg5
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2019 c-leg 5, I may have confused the locale with Akumal Bay excursions. But I would think on the west side of Coz to get anywhere near rays you'd have to go out toward one of the reefs. and the channel, as you know, can get rough. I'd never recommend anyone who can't swim to do a snorkeling excursion.
