Are Free upgrades still a thing on NCL?

tricky question because some say no, but in my experience is a yes, but only when the price goes down.  i recently purchased an inside guarantee, and 3 days later the Balcony guarantee was 100 dollars cheaper, i asked for it and i was upgraded for free...but if you think about it my upgrade was not free, i paid for it...LOL

Some times they happen, but most upgrades are a result of the bidding process.

They called mine an upgrade but it was really an upgrade light 😂 

 

Went from an OV with 3 perks and $25 OBC each to a Guaranteed Balcony with no perks or OBC

 

The cost difference was about $50 a person and they didn’t charge us and called it a free upgrade on the paper.

 

Its better than nothing 🙂

Yes.  I know of people who booked the Sailaway balcony rate but received an unsolicited upgrade to a minisuite.  Not too shabby considering they paid the cheapest fare.

I wouldn’t want that upgrade if it’s below the pool deck myself.

We love the larger shower of the minisuite.  We'll take the minisuite over the standard balcony any day.  We've never had a problem with a cabin location whether it's above or below a public area.  I guess we're easy to please. lol
