DShock Posted March 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2019 We normally book way out for all of our cruises but often have last minute opportunities come up. We had some time free up and tried to get on Emerald's April 18th PC sailing. We did a paid waitlist for S2, S3, and S6 cabins. Are #2 on waitlist, Elite. We have done this before and clear about 50% of the time, even if it's after final payments are made and even when the refund policy gets to low % back. Hoping for the best here. If you are booked on this sailing, in one of these categories, and have to cancel could you give me a heads up? Would appreciate it.
voljeep Posted March 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2019 are you also booked into another cabin category, or is this an all or nothing ? we've waitlisted before but just into another category on the ship, not onto the ship in itself
DShock Posted March 22, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted March 22, 2019 Just these three categories S2, S3, S6, not interested in any other cabin categories on Emerald.

IDsailor Posted March 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2019 Balconies and up have been sold out on this cruise for a couple of weeks. Lots of interiors available though.

If I counted correctly, there are a total of 12 cabins you are willing to sail in. Being number 2 on the waitlist you are hoping that there will be two cancellations within the group of 12. Maybe it will happen, but the chances are it will not. Good luck though.
AF-1 Posted March 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) So did you decide at this late date to try and sail the panama canal on this ship. Are there other ships going thru the canal too? plus what about airfare; you may pay a higher price for airfare with last minute booking Edited March 23, 2019 by AF-
Colo Cruiser Posted March 23, 2019 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2019 We waitlist quite often. We have only missed out once or twice. I think with the limited choices it will be tight. Hope you guys clear!

Yes, you are correct and we are realistic about our chances, odds are low but worth trying!

Wanted Emerald to go through new locks. Not concerned about airfare.

Wanderingsascent Posted March 24, 2019 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2019 What exactly is a paid wait list and how does it work?
caribill Posted March 24, 2019 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2019 4 hours ago, Wanderingsascent said: What exactly is a paid wait list and how does it work? If there is no availability (cannot book an individual cabin and cannot book a GTY), you can be placed on a waitlist for the cruise. To be sure you are serious about being on the cruise if the waitlist clears, payment is required, but if you do not clear the waitlist, the payment is refunded. Colo Cruiser Posted March 24, 2019 #17 Share Posted March 24, 2019 4 hours ago, Wanderingsascent said: What exactly is a paid wait list and how does it work? When the ship is sold out.......... $200 pp refundable deposit and you pick the cabin categories you want to waitlist for. You can waitlist multiple categories on the same deposit. If you clear you are at the mercy of Princess for pricing which is pretty much full price. (no promos) If you do not want to take the cabin then you can cancel and get your money back. We have done this a few times as close as 2 days prior to a cruise. We have only not cleared the waitlist twice out of them all.
