unused onboard credit from Visa rewards

Hello,

We have a good amount of onboard credit that will be on our account from our RC visa card. If we do not use all the OBC, will it be refunded to us in terms of having it applied to our credit card account?

The Cruise Planner has a sale going on for drink packages etc, but our OBC has not been added to CP as of yet. I was thinking of just going ahead with ordering it ,but do not want to find that we will not get the money from OBC refunded if we do not use it. If it will not be reapplied to our card balance, I am thinking I have to wait and pay the higher price.

Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

OBC from Visa points is fully refundable.

You can ask for cash at Guest Services on the last day, or they will automatically credit your credit card with whatever is left.

Yes.  On the last night of the cruise, go to Guest Services and any unused OBC will be paid out to you in the form of cash. I had a whopping $27 left over, out of $350 VISA obc.

I believe you can also have the points returned to the VISA card but you will lose any double points from your Royal purchases (if any). At least, that's what I've been told.

If the sale price is a good one, I'd buy it now and then cancel & rebook once your get the OBC added to your cruise planner. Most people report that it shows up about 2 weeks before the cruise although I had it show up about 4-5 weeks before my cruise.

The money will be returned as cash, it will not be returned as points.

The cash will be returned to whatever card you use for your on board account. If you use points from an RCI Visa for OBC but use a different card for your on board account, the money will be refunded to the second card, not the RCI Visa.

Just a note...If you have OBC from other sources that is non-refundable they will use the refundable obc first.

On our many RCI cruises we've always had our non-refundable OBC used up first before the refundable OBC.

This was as recent as last April.

Is this a recent change in OBC policy?

We are on an Oasis TA next month and will find out as we have both types of OBC. NR from RCI and R from our travel agency. Another TA perk was prepaid gratuities so we'll have to definitely use the NR onboard.

We were on Adventure 2 weeks ago. We had both non-refundable and refundable OBC. The non-refundable was used up first.

Were the OBC identified with NR and R on your onboard account as has been done on ours in the past?

Thanks

Our OBC was identified as refundable and non-refundable on the interactive TV display on Adventure last month.

Can we use OBC to get cash at the casino?

Twee

You can get cash at the casino as an advance on your onboard account.  They will charge 5% for that.  Don't mention OBC, just say you want cash to play the tables.

And lately on most ships they won't give you cash.  they give a voucher that you can insert in a slot machine and then cash out and take the cash out slip to the cashier

Even if you ask for cash for live gaming?

I just asked for cash and did not specify what I was using for and was told that they only give out vouchers- only tested it on the BR- will let you know about the Mariner next moth unless you test it first😇
