Specialty dining first night

Do folks think this is a good idea?  Are the specialty dining rooms open on the first night?  Was thinking of hitting Fahrenheit 555 on Sunrise in late June.  Has anyone had a problem then on the second night when they show up in the main dining room with their core MDR table?  Thanks

We always book the specialty restaurant the first night and sometimes a second time during the week. We have YTD so it doesn't matter if we don't show up the first night. It shouldn't matter either if you have one of the set dining times.  Go ahead and do it and enjoy.

The Steakhouse actually gives you a free bottle of wine on the first night (or half off any bottle on their wine list) so I think it’s a great idea. I don’t think it’s a problem with the MDR. If you are worried about not meeting your table mates you could make the reservation for a little after your MDR dining time and go say hi and explain.

Yes, all specialty dining venues are open each day/night of the cruise. We've often gone to the steakhouse on the first night.

We usually request a private table, so showing up on the second night is not an issue for us. The servers are accustomed to guests going to specialty venues on the first night.

A lot of people don't show up in the MDR the first night...out for sailaway, exploring, catching up on DOD, unpacking...EM

You made me realize we may miss the sailing view out of San Juan (6pm departure) if we stick to our early dining schedule.  May have to eat elsewhere or show up late if not too busy.  Had originally chose early dining since we leave each port stop at 5pm.
