What to do in Athens when flight arrives at 1:00am?

I see most of the flights out of Tucson or Phoenix arrive around 1:00am in Athens.  We will be doing pre-stay with Princess.  I know they will be picking us up at the airport

and transporting us to the hotel, do we need to pay for accommodations  when we arrive? or other arrangements made for early arrivals?  I know some of you know the answer and can give some intuition ass to what happens.

My experience, you'll be hanging out in the airport until they have a transfer pick-up, which will be in the later morning.

All your accommodations made with Princess will be prepaid with final payment. If you select a flight with EZ air with a 1am arrival,  the site will caution you that you are making a flight out of range (something like that for pick up) so you will be waiting at the airport.

Please Review the Following Notices Carefully

Earliest Recommended Arrival Time for Anchorage is 6:30 AM
The selected flights arrive prior to the recommended earliest arrival time for your itinerary. Services such as transfers and hotel accommodations may not be available on arrival.

Was just looking at a flight for Alaska and this is the comment you might get with Athens. If you book the flight on your own they will still look at you as being out of range.

Several times we have taken "same day"red eyes from the west coast and ended up waiting 4-5 hours for transfers in the baggage claim area.

Wow...some bad info here.

OP is flying to Athens,  not Anchorage.

If they have agreed to pick up the OP at the airport and transfer to the hotel,  they will provide a greaeer, and transportation. Probably a cab. This is paid for by Princess, as part of your hotel and transportation package. You will pay for the package,  including hotel, in advance. The hotel will probably require a credit card for incidentals. But your room is already covered. We have arrived late as midnight,  had a greeter, and a cab to the hotel.

Bear in mind your flight might arrive at 1am but there will be no shops or food outlets open at that time.  If you are hanging around (and Athens is a fairly small and not very comfortable airport to hang around in..) then there will be nothing to eat or drink (other than slot machines) and nothing to do.  From experience there is also not a lot of seating!  Your cruise line or TA should be able to be clear with you about when you might expect to be collected, what arrangements can be made for the hotel etc.
