Looking for ideas outside of excursions on things to do/see bother free and for a fee.

The immediate area outside of the cruise port has shopping and dining (and gambling, if that's your thing), and there are a few historic sites and small museums. If you do a search online for "Aruba walking tour" you will find suggestions for both self-guided and guided (for a fee) walking tours.

Take a cab to a beach. Or if you want to save money there are beaches you can walk to.
