Anytime dining question

We are booked as anytime dining on the Volendam, coming up next week.  Is it possible to request a certain table for two?  Also, do we need to make reservations as per time each day?

Thanks for any insights.

Many times we have requested a table for 2 in a favorite dining steward's area -- and other times we have been given the same table each night without even asking.  Once they find you prefer a particular steward(s), they seem to want to accommodate both you and that steward.

No need for reservations each day, but it can help.  If you don't make reservations you can do a walk-up and wait for what you prefer.

My experience on Eurodam last week was we arrived 545 - 6 PM and never had an issue getting a two top table.

With free choice or my choice dining you cannot make a reservation per Inga in the Neptune Lounge.

I am on Noordam Sunday, unfortunately we missed out on fixed time in the MDR, got Open Seating, that is what HAL now call it.

We like a table of 6 to 8, who wants a table for two ? No way, we do that every night at home.  We like to mix and socialise, surely that is what cruising is all about?

Because of our schedule at home we rarely get dinner together so I love a table for 2.

Fair enough Scott, each to their own, I retired at 55. Best job I ever had. Trouble is we spend too much money on travel.

One of my other posts I shared a toast given at the Mariner Society luncheon.  "There are good ships and wood ships, ships that sail the sea, but the best ships are dam ships, may they always be!"  So true.  I cannot wait to get on my next dam ship.

First time on HAL for us on Sunday, but done 24 others, mainly on Princess, as per signature.   Happy cruising to you sir.

Hmmm ... I had "any time dining" on the Eurodam last month (28-day Hawaii/Tahiti/Marquesas cruise), and I was able to make reservations several times for dinner in the MDR.  I got tired of waiting in lines every night and I thought making a reservation would help.  It did, but you can only make reservations for 3 days at a time.

It may vary from ship to ship, at the whim or discretion of the Restaurant Manager.

I don't think so.  Open Dining and making reservations is discussed here often.  Your post is the first I've ever seen that mentions that possibility.  I believe Inga in the Neptune Lounge was mistaken, or didn't understand the question.  Not only that, but Artsy Craftsy sailed the same ship that ScottC sailed within a couple weeks.

We have used Open Dining ever since HAL started it, years ago and many different ships.  We have never been told we couldn't make a reservation in the MDR.  Limited hours, yes, but never told no we couldn't make a reservation.
