Quantum Class ships have a beam of about 41 at the water line which is narrower than Icon’s beam at the water line based on the FERU.

Lloyd555 Posted December 25, 2021 Author #354 Share Posted December 25, 2021 (edited) The Icon of the Seas FERU arrived at the Meyer Turku shipyard this Christmas morning with German tugs Bugsier 30 and Wal. The Finnish tug Dunker first opened the fairway which leads to the shipyard and then assisted the tugs in getting to the dock safely. 📷 Janne-Petteri Kumpulainen Edited December 25, 2021 by Lloyd555 2

Lloyd555 Posted January 4, 2022 Author #361 Share Posted January 4, 2022 (edited) Some other images of the huge sphere. You can get an idea of its size when you see the shipyard employees inside of it. I lightened up the photo from Matt's blog so that we can make out the interior of the final state of the sphere before it was sent off on a barge to Mobimar Oy* (we assume). * responsible for construction of FlowRiders, RipCord by iFly, SkyPad, etc. Nobody spotted it in the FERU - Meyer Turku photos. Mind you, the snow storm didn't help. 🙂 And no, it's not a motorcycle Globe of Death. Edited January 4, 2022 by Lloyd555
Rare twangster Posted January 4, 2022 #362 Share Posted January 4, 2022 We have those all over Florida. It's painted Orange and they sell fruit from them. It's a fruit stand.

miraflores Posted January 4, 2022 #364 Share Posted January 4, 2022 Looks like an LNG fuel tank. I heard they were having a ton of trouble trying to find crew spaces below, because these tanks take up so much room.
Lloyd555 Posted January 4, 2022 Author #365 Share Posted January 4, 2022 (edited) Manfred in my FB group mentions... With the stairs inside, it reminds me of this image that I saw on an architectural site. This one is not contained in a sphere, but has the round opening and stairway. ... and shared this photo. If the sphere turns out to not be a venue, it would make a nice stairway from/into a venue or concourse. Tall-Cruiser Posted January 5, 2022 #366 Share Posted January 5, 2022 They have finally reimagined the Royal Promenade or Wonderland 😀 It looks like something that could be used at Kennedy Space Center for practicing walking / flying in space. Fairsky84 Posted January 5, 2022 #367 Share Posted January 5, 2022 It's definitely something very low in the hull and therefore likely mechanical. I'd also guess part of the fuel storage. A venue or "wow" feature would be higher in the hull (or on the top decks), which are nowhere near ready for installation at the shipyard. Those are often the very last things installed. At this early stage, we're only seeing the keel blocks where all of the machinery is located.
Lloyd555 Posted January 5, 2022 Author #368 Share Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) Not something very low in the hull. Curious what people here think it may be. You can see the size/height of the tiers compared to the people nearby (in small image on the right) and the welder from another image (on the left below) thatI overlapped with the main image. Those tiers remind me of an amphitheatre. There may be stairs on the right side that we cannot see or perhaps they have yet to be added... ... or there will be a ramp on each side of the tiers perhaps. It is thanks to some back & forth with Manfred in the FB group, that have me thinking that perhaps it'll be like an amphitheatre. Somewhere to sit and enjoy the view of the exterior of the ship or the ocean maybe. This nice photo that was found online also had me thinking along those lines. Chiliburn Posted January 6, 2022 #369 Share Posted January 6, 2022 It’s probably a theatre of some kind. LED screens on the inside with parabolic sound. Walk through or sit for a while? Maybe with subliminal Royal Caribbean advertising to make you spend more money?
Tall-Cruiser Posted January 6, 2022 #370 Share Posted January 6, 2022 @Lloyd555 Great photos and finding some ideas online. You could be onto something with those illustrations. Also like the point by @Chiliburn about LED screens.
