frankc98376 Posted May 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Nieuw Amsterdam docked in Skagway at abut 0700 this morning to steady rain and chilly. Some hearty souls headed ashore early- we'll wait until eases up as we are here until 2300. Now 1150 and rain has stopped and sun is trying to peek through- should be a nice day. We are at the dock with the bow over main street so easy in and out. NCL behemoth is at the dock at the base of the mountain. Appears there was a big landslide over the winter above the dock. I'll get a picture and post when we head out. I wonder if the Skagway final ship tradition applies to the first ship of the season also 🙂

We're taking the "Experience Yukon and Suspension Bridge" excursion through HAL. How is the ship looking after the bump? have they done any repairs? Enjoy yourselves! 🛳️ Edited May 7, 2019 by RoyalVisit
Krazy Kruizers Posted May 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2019 We love Skagway. Over the years since we were first there in 1989, it has changed a lot. Hope you enjoy your day there.

RedneckBob Posted May 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Just there a week ago with blue skies. Try the "Doughboy" at a local eatery. It was great!

St Pete Cruiser Posted May 8, 2019 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2019 Just saw your post. We are on the Westerdam in Kodiak, first ship of the season. Almost didn't get into port with high winds. I like being the only ship (1865 guests) here versus the crowded Alaskan ports.
