Departing flight Orlando...Breeze

We are cruising on the Breeze from Port Canaveral in August. We are platinum and will be carrying our luggage off and catching Cortrans Shuttle to the airport. There's a flight leaving at 11:48. Is this doable? Shuttles start leaving the port at 8:15.  Thanks!

I think it will be tight but do-able. It's about an hour from the airport to the ship but lines can be quite long in Orlando and after you go through security you have to take a short train ride to the gate. So give yourself an hour to get through security and to your gate.

Frankly I would be very anxious doing this. Shuttles may start leaving at 8:15 and hopefully you are on the one of the firsts. You then have a 45 min -one hour ride to the airport and yes, the lines can be very long at security. That is assuming absolutely no traffic issues. Then you should make it.

On the other hand, any delays in docking or debarkation, heavy traffic, security delays......

We always go by what Carnival says if you use their shuttle from the ship to the airport.  Here is the link:

They recommend not booking an outbound flight earlier than 12:50 pm

As previously stated you never know what the the ship will actually return to port, what time it will be cleared and what time debarkation will begin.

I was just off of the Liberty 2 weeks ago. We made a 11:59am flight, even with an extra stop way out of our way that I was not pleased about. We also were not amongst the first group off the ship. It's definitely doable, but it's also definitely possible to miss your flight. The later your flight, the better chance you have.

Thanks y'all.  Going for the 1:48 return flight.  The anxiety is not worth it.

I think you made the right decision.

When we sailed on the Sunshine out of Canaveral the cruise before us and our cruise were an hour late getting into port due to fog.  Adding to that there was a very bad accident on 528 causing the road to be closed and it took 2 and a half hours to get to Orlando.

Add to that the lines for Security in the Orlando airport I wouldn't book the earlier flight.  We had a 6:00pm flight so it wasn't a problem for us, but some fiends on the same cruise missed their flight, had to re-book and as so many flights were full they didn't get home to NY until 2:00am!

You made the right choice here so you won't be so stress after a cruise and on every sailing is so much different time on debark the ship.

December 13-20 2018, for some reason they were very slow to let people get off (?) the ship.  We got an early departure number and did not get down to the pier after 10 AM and did not get on our way home around 11:30 AM.

April 27 May 4, 2019.  They let Platinum off around 7:45 AM and were on the highway before 8:30 AM

We loved the Breeze already booked another one on this ship before she will leaving Pt. Canaveral.

Happy Cruising.

You made the right choice.  Orlando recently (like a couple of weeks ago) implemented "enhanced security."  They are now saying to allow 2 hours just to get through security.  I have never had it take less than an hour and had once where it took 3 hours.  That's after checking bags (which is approximately a 30 mile walk from the Contrans drop off ;)) and not including the time to get to your gate after you get through security.  There is plenty to do inside the gates if you end up there ahead of time but I do think it is insane that people accept 2 hours to get through security.  It should not take that long (hello, that's two hours where someone can stand in an area with way more people than a single airplane with banned items).

We were in New Orleans last weekend and watched The Valor arrive at 2 P.M.  About 8 or so hours late.  Imagine a few people missed their flights, especially the ones that booked a tight schedule.

We just got off the Breeze on May 4.  We are also platinum, but didn't do self-assist.  After we got our luggage, we were off the ship and seated on a Cortrans shuttle by 7:50.  We got to the airport, swapped out some things in our luggage carry on, checked our luggage, went through security and was sitting at our Southwest gate by 9:35 a.m.  Again that was with leaving out our luggage the night before and not doing self-assist.  Traffic and the TSA line was not that bad early on a Saturday morning.
