Is it possible to upgrade a free casino cruise to a JS or GS?

If you use your free casino cruise offer for the Mariner of the Seas 5 day cruise, are you able to upgrade and pay the difference to a JS or GS.

 

Just wondering how much the casino  $$ is worth.

 

We have just become eligible for these cruises recently, and just wondering.

I say yes.  I have been able to on 2 occasions.  Phone the casino line, not the regular RCCL contact number.

Can't be done on line.

yes we upgraded our free casino to a balcony. you can upgrade to any cabin you want just pay the difference

Of course I just thought of something else.

 

If I use the casino cruise credit and I upgrade to a junior suite and pay difference, do I get the 2 per day cruise points.

Yes.  Up until the new casino year started (1 April 19) the casino rate to upgrade a casino comp cruise was awesome.  We averaged paying 40% (60% discount) of the ALREADY discounted (BOGO or whatever the prevailing fake sales price was) price of any suite, regardless of the category (we upgraded to Star Class 3 times and paid incredibly low prices for these).  HOWEVER, since April 1 they are no longer offering those very deep discounts on casino comp upgrades.  Yes, you still get a discount (I calculated that it would have been an overall 30% discount) but nothing near as good as the 60-70% discount that they had been offering up until April.  I assume this change in policy is in hopes that the RoyalUp program will take all of the upgrades that had been available to casino members and give them to RoyalUp folks.

 

We have decided not to upgrade any more of our casino comps.  We will take what they give us for "free" and be happy with that.  We have not booked any cruises for 2021 and will not.  We will just wait for our casino comp offers to come in and if they dry up as well, then we will go elsewhere.  So disappointed with the casino upgrade policy this year.

Yes.  The casino call line will calculate it for you.  The price will depend on your offer, the current rate of a cabin in your offer and the current rate of the cabin you want.     And yes, if you upgrade to the JS or above, you will get double points ( or single if traveling solo) .

Yes, you can upgrade.  We were just today able to upgrade from a Virtual Balcony to an ocean view balcony for no additional money. I then asked the price to upgrade to the JS and was given a price of $200 and when asked about the double points was told we would get them.  A no brainer for us

Just curious if you booked an Anthem cruise.  (I thought Quantum class were the only ships with virtual balconies)  I haven't seen any offers for Anthem.
