Australian bookings why no best price guarantee?

Bonnie, this was being discussed on another thread but seems to have been buried. 

 

You advised that the best price guarantee does not apply to bookings made in Australia and New Zealand. I asked if you could please find out why. 

 

There must be a reason and I’m sure we aren’t the only Australians (and New Zealanders) who would appreciate knowing.

Each market (country) sets their own guidelines and rules.

Consumer protection laws are much stronger in Australia (and the UK for that matter) than in the US.  The price of that is ultimately paid by consumers themselves in the form of less favourable terms and conditions.

No Best Price guarantee has ever been available in the UK.

We can cancel and re book, but loose our deposit in the process.

Or, you can transfer a booking once, at the cost of £75 p.p.

If you do an onboard booking you now get one chance to change your booking for a lower price and keep your booking benefits.
